What fun I had this morning being interviewed on BlogTalkRadio for the Texas radio show "Coffee with an Author." For all of you out there who missed and want to check out what a good job host Naomi Giroux did with the interview (and hear my funny stories about this second career as a writer), you can go to the website, www.ijustfinished.com and hear the whole hour. A writer herself, she asked good questions, covered the vaccine issues that are featured in the novel, and let me talk about what inspires my stories and my writing process. We talked about White Lies, the first novel, (and she mentioned its nomination for the Library of Virginia Fiction award) and she already knew about the upcoming release of the second novel, Waltzing Cowboys in January.
And Naomi pegged me just right. Although the publicity end of marketing my writing takes time away from the creative side of writing novels, I would miss the interaction with readers if I didn't have so many book events. And the satisfaction that comes from speaking to parents with vaccine-injured children definitely adds to the success I've enjoyed as a fiction writer. Parents of autistic children find that White Lies helps allay their guilty feelings, and understand the Compensation Fund system. The book does make a difference. What more could an author want?
Thank you, BlogTalkRadio and www.ijustfinished.com for promoting authors and books.
