Question:

 

Because of the economy and your finances
will you still hand out candy, or cut down on the number you will buy for halloween?

we live in country so we do not hand out candy. We will take our kids trick or treating though

Fred, I didn't have the money to buy food this month so could not buy candy for kids, besides they don't come up my way and none live near by...

yes because
1) we never get alot of kids here
2) i dont give out candy
3) i give out pencils, little toys, kids meal toys, things like that and I save for it all year
and if i dont use it all, save it for next year

I have alot of good memories of halloween,
so i do it

I live out of town and never get any trick-or-treaters. I will have a couple of treats on hand just in case, but I always buys something I like to eat myself!

We don't have that much $$$ but Halloween is my favorite holiday so I try to do something. We don't get a lot of kids where we are but I always put out a small bowl for kids to take candy from since I take my own kids out.

I will still buy the same. I love Halloween, let's face it, you only get so many. =) One's when you are young, and the one's when you grow old, and see the young.

My kids no longer trick or treat so we usually go out for a family dinner while all the trick or treaters are out.

I will still give out candy. But my church is having a party for the kids and the children will go trick ortreating there.

We usually end up with over 100 kids. What we do is after Halloween we hit Target for the 75% off an 90% off sales and buy up the toy hand outs. Last year we found alot of bags of Play-doh. They were the small ones you used to hand out. I think we paid about .49 each bag. If I remember correctly there were about 30 in a bag. We ended up with about 20 bags of them so we are more then ready for all the kids that show up. Last year we handed out whistles. The kids loved them we could hear them for blocks.

We live too far out to get trick or treaters.
We usually have a small amount of treats on hand for people who come before or after we're done trick or treating. Traditionally, though, we're out and about, so we don't hand many treats out.

My husband has to work, and I'm driving my son 20 miles to trick or treat in base housing, since we can just walk around there, instead of doing the driving we would have to do here. Because of this, I don't think we will have any trick or treaters while we are home. Elliott did manage to sneak a bag of candy into the cart today, so we will have it just in case some show up before or after we go trick or treating.

I live in the mountains. In 20 years I have yet to have a single trick or treater. Not even the JW's come up here. Dead end road on a ridge top. I've had less than five people knock on my door for any reason in the last decade.

I'm ready for the little goblins. Big old, regular sized candy bars that starts rumors on the street. It would have to get pretty bad for me to take candy away from kids although whistles and play dough are great ideas. I expect more adults at the door this year. Or adults holding a three month old. ;)

i usually hand out candy for my parents while they take my little sister out. there are 200 houses in their neighborhood and all the people around them drop their kids off there...its a freakin mad house. they just buy the most candy they can afford comfortably and when its out..its out.

I currently live in the middle of nowhere, so that isn't an issue here. If I were in town, I would be handing candy out.

We aren't usually home to hand out candy, but if we were, we would for sure have to cut down. It's hard enough to afford real food these days.

i lived in a rural area that didnt have many treak or treaters. now i live downtown with students, so i doubt there will be any! haha

My kids love to hand out candy, (they are too old, being adults) so I am sure we will be handing out candy. Besides, they love leftovers...lol

We use to get alot of trick or treaters. Living in the country though. After so long the number has dwindled down some. The parents usually take them to one big area. Or to some Halloween party. I still make sure we have plenty of candy. If not for the trick or treaters, then for the family.. Since all of our children are grown up now. Plus we do have two grandchildren now. And its so fun to have them come to the door..

I always hand out candy. It usually only costs under $10, so I try and swing it. There are a ton of kids in my neighborhood.

As usual, I combine sales with coupons and get candy dirt cheap, so I'll hand it out as I usually do. If there's any left that is. We've been hitting the candy hard this week.

For the last 19 years I have had a child to take, so I don't have to buy the candy. But next year my daughter wants to go with someone else besides her boring Mom, so I'll have to get some next year. I know some people who pass out cans of soda, money, or king size candy bars! That would get expensive1

We decorate the house, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, we usually have an adult party and a kid party, but, the kids are now grown and out... we are not having an adult party, just handing out lots and lots of candy this year!!!! We will still dress up for the kiddos, have the lights on, with the coffin lit up, bats flying around, and spooky sounds coming from the stero.... whoooaaaaa, haaahhhaaaahhhaaa, lol, that is a scary sound!!!!

I live down a dirt lane with no neighbors close by and the ones at the end of the lane have no kids. We go to a development across the street and end up dragging our bags home because they are so full!

We always have candy but do not have trick or treaters. So I eat the candy lol!
I would hand out what I could afford and then cut the lights. I see no real difference to make me not participate as I always have even with the economy as it is.

If I still lived in town, I would put one small piece of candy in a baggie with a note that says, you can thank George Bush for this because I can't afford to give you what you got last year.

We will cause we usually don't get too many kids.This year is especially bad becaause the apartment complex is really emtying out.We won't be giving out candy but fruit snacks and pretzels instead. Kids are getting too much candy.

nope ~ halloween is cool here ~ we live in a subdivision that people for miles around bring their kids ~ by car, four wheelers (seriously) and the good ole straw in the back wagon with horses in front (seriously)....besides that we like candy ourselves, so there won't be anything to waste, lol ~j

I have been over-buying for years so yes, I think I will cut down a bit this year. Saving a little money is nice, and not eating all the left overs and feeling sick for days, even better.

We don't usually get a lot of kids being in a townhouse community. This year there are some kids here, so I am ready with the Halloween pencils and mini candy bars!
