This press release intrigues me - I want to go -- Heart & Hands Wine Company, in the Finger Lakes wine region, is pleased to announce Crush Camp, a unique winemaking experience. This opportunity is for those interested in doing some hands-on winemaking this harvest season while enjoying the luxurious accommodations at the E. B. Morgan House in Aurora, home of the famous McKenzie-Childs Company.
Seven individuals will have the opportunity to participate in harvest and winemaking activities from October 1st through October 5th, 2009. Based on the timing of the grapes, Crush Camp participants will likely perform the following activities alongside the winemaking team of Susan and Tom Higgins: picking fruit, sorting grapes, daily punchdowns, lab analysis, pressing grapes, and plenty of cleaning.
Participants will enjoy accommodations at the luxurious E.B. Morgan House in Aurora, NY and harvest dining from the Aurora Inn, Red Newt Bistro, and Pumpkin Hill Bistro. In addition, participants will receive 6 bottles of wine from the 2009 harvest upon release and a special gift bag.
The package, including all meals and a four night stay at the E.B. Morgan House, costs $2495 per person, single occupancy, and $1795 per person double occupancy, plus local taxes.
Heart & Hands Wine Company, owned by Susan and Tom Higgins, is located on the eastern shores of Cayuga Lake, in the Finger Lakes, just a few miles north of the beautiful village of Aurora. With a commitment to producing only Pinot Noir and Riesling, the winery has quickly found its passion and focus on quality in every aspect for wine production. Recently the winery’s 2007 Barrel Reserve Pinot Noir was named the Best Pinot Noir at the New York Wine & Food Classic wine competition and James Molesworth, senior editor at Wine Spectator, thought of the winery as, “a bit of a pioneer” for its focus on these two varietals. Please see www.heartandhandswine.com for additional details or call the winery at (315) 889-8500.

FYI - I had homemade rootbeer on tap at the Windfall Bar & Grill in the Adirondacks - it was great too!
I prefer dry red wine, but I have sampled the Riseling, and I found it to be tasty.
Thank you for writing about the winery in the Finger Lakes district.
just being as bad as I can be . . .
