We are CLOSING this week FINALLY!

We just got the call- the close date is official. We're closing on Thursday morning at 11:30 AM. There are no more obsticals! We're officially going to be home owners!

Through out this entire process, we've known we had the down payment assistance, and that we would only have to pay $988 on closing (1% of the purchase price). We also knew that the $500 Earnst Money would count towards the DP. On top of that, we also paid $375 to have the FHA appraisal done, which also went towards the closing costs.  All of that should have left us with a $113 down payment due at closing.

The lender gave me a list of anything and everything we needed to bring to the closing, including the closing costs of "51 sums". I was like, "Ok, $51." He said "Well, 51 sums", Ok, sure. Then, he said, "Now, you can pay that anyway you want- two quarters and a penny, a check, money order, whatever."

I was like, "You mean 51 CENTS??"

So, that's our closing costs- $51 cents. We also have to bring the receipt for the house inspection. That was $275. Not sure why they need that, it wasn't a requirement, and it isn't covered in the loan at all, but we'll see.

So two days from right now, I'll officially be a home owner! Wish us luck!
