she has traveled to find out
some of her
enduring things are not there;
vanished
disappeared
petered out
with the names they have been tagged with.
“Life!
Aha, life!” she whispers.
The diaries of yesteryears
are all misplaced
suddenly.
Mirror before her
becomes smoked with laughter.
Time increases speed.

sharing pastels
Sharing a pastel stick with a friend
who needs the burnt sienna right then
is easy, till his rides on time’s back
brings him into a valley where
finding rainbows is hard, hues are sparse.
An adult cannot lend his color
easily, without a blink, smiling.
So when he finds his tints of sleep
are missing, he lifts his grim face
to the nearest adult person
who has chosen an entire pack of
pastels to wear for the occasion.
This makes him blush. He cannot ask her
if she has stolen his sleep’s colors.
Instead he rides back to be a child
again, happy to confess he loves
to share with his best and only friend.

Your second poem has me thinking. I love your metaphor about the sharing of dream-colors, but I've never thought of this as something that could be sacrificed to a friend. A very intriguing idea.
