One thing you can always count on with people is that sooner or later they show their true colours and it's no different with the religious leaders in Iran.
A hard line Iranian cleric on Friday called for the execution of "rioters," in a sign of the authorities' determination to stamp out opposition to the June 12 presidential election result.
"I want the judiciary to ... punish leading rioters firmly and without showing any mercy to teach everyone a lesson," Ahmad Khatami told worshippers at Tehran University.
Khatami, a member of the Assembly of Experts, said the judiciary should charge the leading "rioters" as being "mohareb" or one who wages war against God.
"They should be punished ruthlessly and savagely," he said. Under Iran's Islamic law, punishment for people convicted as mohareb is execution. Now I have to tell you kids that statements like this make me wonder just what sort of a religion this guy is practising when he can so casually call for the death of other people.
But then again that seems to be a common problem in Islam.
With that sort of a sinister attitude it makes me wonder if this guy is a man of God or someone doing the Devils work!

You are right on. Any cleric, Christian, Jew, or Muslim who prostitutes religion for political or personal reasons is working "for the other guy down there," not "the Big Guy 'up there.'"
There is no religion in Iran; religion died there almost 200 years ago. All that is left is the rotting cadaver of a once-glorious faith that propelled mankind to an ever-higher stage of human evolution.
