I got my first royalty check from Amazon yesterday for T'ain't Nobody's Busness If I Do! It was only $30, but it was the first one! Woohoo!
I've been pretty steadily selling exactly one book a month on there:) But then I've had no time at all to publicize the book, so that's not bad. I'm hoping to get to do some publicity for it in my old hometown of Greenwood, SC next month during their "Blues Cruise," part of a summer festival they always have.
I've gotten small checks from Lulu once or twice, but this is my first from Amazon/CreateSpace.

kudo's to you dearie ... from one author to another!
a check is a check is a check ...
Congrats!! I know the feeling of someone paying for the labor of your work. Congrats again.
congrats rhetta! Always nice to see those type of checks!
Congratulations! Have you set up readings at bookstores, libraries and arts councils? This can add to your sales. The best of luck.
I haven't yet, Trish. I've been extremely busy working on my first non self-published book, which is due in July 15th. After that, I can get back to some self-promotion for a bit, i think.
Congratulations on the book & the check!
Congrats!
Congrats! Every little bit helps :)
Congratulations. I worked at Piedmont Technical College for a couple of years so I'm very familiar with Greenwood.
I only get 15% commission off retail from my publisher, so $30 commission would be around 15 books.
Yeah, I'm getting less than that from my publisher when my book comes out, but it's a small press, and it's my first book for them. I think I'll have to sell about 35 books to get $30 from them, until I sell over a thousand.
Walker, when were you in Greenwood? My ex-husband graduated from Piedmont Tech, but that was sometime in the 80's. I lived in or near Greenwood most of my life with the exception of one 5 year period, from the time I was born in the 1950's in Ware Shoals, 20 miles away, until 1993, when we moved to metro Atlanta.
congrats !
Congratulations
Right on. Royalties rock!
Congratulations, that's great!
Thanks, ya'll. I was thrilled. I get more when I sell them myself, but since I've already done the work on these, it just feels like a bonus:)
Congrats! That's great!
Congratulations! That is wonderful. I hope you start to sell more!
wow Rhetta that is wonderful.....every little bit counts now a days!!
I received my first royality check in January it was only $28, but I sold a few books. I am now posting it on gather to share with the community. It is in my profile and titled "The Comfort of Holding Your Hand". Wanted to share a story and it seems this is the only way I can. Good luck on your endevors Rhetta, marketing a POD is rough and mostly word of mouth.
I know; I have two others which I have sold mostly at conventions, and I've done quite well with those. But I love selling them on Amazon; that's so much cooler.
Woo hoo is right, better than nothing I say. Congratulations.
Congrats!
Congratulations!!!
