Thanks to Atlantis and her clever posting "Blind dates make you feel like a loser" for reminding me of this little poem I wrote after reading the personals in the Ann Arbor Observer. In these, everyone always portrayed him or herself as beautiful, fit, intelligent, accomplished, and highly desirable. I always found it amusing that only perfect people were ever looking for someone.

PERSONAL

Ugly duckling

Can turn into swan

Only when viewed

By someone with great insight.

Looking for same-

Object blind affection.

I do not think that it is funny. I think that is tender and touching--and shows insight by Bill.

I will use the poem at with my poetry group at the senior center. I think that it will spark comments.

Bill, if you want some kind of copyright fee, I'll offer $1000. I don't understand those things.

You show insight yourself. You might also want to look at my "I Used To Be Old," which is aimed at seniors. Copyright fee? How about you give my best wishes to your class.
