I just found out that that a guy I knew thirty years ago, Bruce Allen, is on the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Committee and new Canadians (specifically Hindi's/Indian's) want him fired for his recent comments, outlined below:
-- Please pass this along.
I am sorry, but after hearing they want to sing the National Anthem in Hindi at the 2010 Olympics - enough is enough.
Nowhere or at no other time in our Nation's history, did they sing it in Italian, Japanese, Polish, Irish (Celtic), German, Portuguese, Greek, or any other language because of immigration.
It was written in English, adapted into French, and should be sung word for word the way it was written.
The news broadcasts even gave the Hindi version translation - which was not even close to our National Anthem.
I am not the least bit sorry if this offends ANYONE, this is MY COUNTRY.
My Grand Dad served in the military, other family members also served, as well as my wife & I served a combined total of 56 years between us.
We made many sacrifices for our country and do not feel we should feel obligated to allow invited people we've welcomed with open arms to influence & change our society to better resemble the one they chose to leave to come here!!!
- IF YOU AGREE WITH THIS, SPEAK UP BEFORE ITS TOO LATE
I am not against immigration. In fact I believe we need more. I was even an immigrant, -- just come through like everyone else.
Get a sponsor; a place to lay your head; have a job; pay your taxes, live by the Rules AND LEARN THE LANGUAGE as all other immigrants have in the past.
-- AND LONG LIVE CANADA!'
It's time we all get behind Bruce Allen, and scrap this Political Correctness crap.
His comments were anything but racist, however, there are far too many overly sensitive 'New Canadians' that are attempting to change everything we hold dear.
ARE YOU PART OF THE PROBLEM ???
Think about this: If you don't want to forward this for fear of offending someone, will we still be the Country of Choice and Still be CANADA if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries who have come to live in CANADA because it is the Country of Choice??????
Think about it!
IMMIGRANTS, NOT CANADIAN'S, MUST ADAPT. (And this applies equaly well in the States!)
It's time for CANADIANS to speak up.
If you agree ? Pass this along;
If you don't agree?
Delete it and reap what you sow because of your complacency!

And it's not even accurate, given that the Canadian national anthem was first written in French, then translated into English, then rewritten in an English version that is not a translation of the French version. So really, anybody who wants to sing it "word for word the way it was written" should sing it in French.
And that's all I have to say about that!
Is that anything like....an ignorant bigot is an ignorant bigot, whether he's lying or telling the truth?
The point is (and why I put it in this blog) that I totally believe in the sentiment.
If Immigrants want to change Canada or the U.S. to a copy of what they left behind then they should have stayed where they were to begin with!
When my parents and I came to Canada in the 50's, we had to fit in and learn English. Today's immigrants feel they can come over here and we have to kiss their ass.
Not me!
Maybe we should just give North America back to the Indians and all go home to where we came from.
The Point (in a nutshell) was that "Immigrants used to come here and try to learn their obligations to be good citizens. Today the first thing an immigrant wants to know is what their "rights" are! Big difference in attitude.
Since you only seems interested in causing trouble and acting like the moral police for gather I just simply block you and then you can bug somebody else since that seems to be your purpose here.
Goodbye
Nation - a stable, historically developed community of people with a territory, economic life, distinctive culture, and language in common.
In Canada, those (2) languages are English and French, and none other. It is a typical
tactic of multicultural extremist, fanatics to throw the word bigot around. What In the World Wil is famous for it, around here. In the larger society, we lock nutcases up. Here, we can just block them or delete them out, especially when they are verbally abusive as
Wil has once again been here.
That's exactly where part of the problem is...and the same goes for international students. I deal with international students almost everyday and I get so tired of hearing " In Thailand" or " In China " or " In Korea ". In fact, most of them would impose their culture on us in a heartbeat and most have no respect for our culture whatsoever.
But for a handfull of Americans who have no respect for their own culture or country, I suppose none of this is a problem for them.

Thanks for pointing this out and Wil could have had the same reaction to his notice if he hadn't immediately started throwing around terms like Bigot, Liar and a few other not so nice phrases.
That is they pretend to be against name calling, Tim. There's a name for them too.
It's called "hypocrite".
Why not ? Recognition of noteworthy ideas and the exposure of them is commendable as well as origination of those ideas. In our overpopulated society (USA) today we have so many people and books and magazines and blogs, etc. that it's difficult to keep up with everything. I say, if it's good information, bring it to me. I don't care it you're the originator or not.
As for copy & paste, it's one of the great inventions of modern man, right behind the TV
remote control mute button.
I am also serious when I say "Never let facts get in the way of a good story!" I am not out for a Pulitzer, I just entertain people and make them think!
Allan
Robert...exactly.
Alan, you admitted it wasn't true. The you agree with Robert "100%". What's the word for that? I don't like namecalling myself, so I'll just call it inconsistent.
Timothy, you should travel internationally a bit and hang out with fellow Americans. What do you think is the first phrase off their lips when they encounter something different, unusual, or confusing in a foreign country? :-)
I don't count accuracy as high as entertainment value on a BLOG, so if you want to set journalistic standards, read your newspaper, don't put your expectations on to me!
My answer to Wil's comment about copying and pasting, was only about copying and pasting, and had no reflection to what might have been copied and pasted by anyone.
irresponsible, (and downright stupid) use of the word "bigot". Thanks Tim.
Aniko....If I were to travel internationally, which I do plan to do some day, I'd do some research on the culture of the country in which I was planning to visit and show some respect when I go there. These kids who are coming here to study these days aren't doing the same.
This is natural, by the way--America is huge, and still quite dominant. What is weird is that so many Americans like you refuse to notice this, when it's about as obvious as the sun rising in the morning.
When a Chinese student tells me that Martin Luther King Jr wrote the Declaration of Independence..well..enough said.
When a Korean student tells me that she knows nothing about American history, nor has she done any research about American culture..well.. enough said.
These students have no knowledge of American history nor American culture let alone any respect for neither..and they have no plans for doing so.
Perhaps that's because America is more publicized to them than they are to America.
In general, I don't have too much interest in knowing about them, and what they do. I have enough just keeping up with what's going on here in the USA. I am not an internationalist, and have no desire to become one.
You can probably see how the "smaller and less culturally isolated" doesn't apply to one country you mention. Even then, I don't know how the student with the MLK-Declaration of Independence mix up got into the institution where she's studying, since that's pretty basic, but I'm sure you can find many American students too that will make you wonder. There are posts right here on Gather in which very proud Americans confuse the Declaration of Independence with the Constitution. :-)
The point is (and why I put it in this blog) that I totally believe in the sentiment. "
If that's the case why not write something in your own words?
In other words, there's no sense in being truthful if it's not entertaining.
Allan
I can't argue that point.
