On the Road Again, with WALTZING COWBOYS this time

With a January 1 release date for Waltzing Cowboys, my second novel, I've polished the old cowboy boots and dusted off my cowboy hat. An aging cowboy returns to New York City to find the son he's never met while his 40 year old unmarried son is battling his own demons and falling in love with a 24 year old. The latest reviewer, the former editor and founder of The Small Press Book Review, writes:

How is it that writers end up being salesmen? Ugh. Although I love talking about writing with my readers, I still wish for a world where books would be rewarded with readers without so much business promotion. The words ought to speak for themselves. Like the sun announces itself and we turn our faces to its light without thinking, even when we're dozing.

Congratulations on the new book Sarah. I peeked at the link, and was wondering who comes up with the book club questions? Is it you? Your editors? Reader questions?

I think most authors write their own book club discussion questions. I'm with a small press and they reviewed my questions and made an editing suggestion or two, but even the authors I meet with bigger publishers say they do most of that kind of extra stuff themselves. And the author knows the issues best after all. I posted my proposed questions at Gather and received some great feedback. It's a good place for that, especially if you warn everyone upfront you want honesty and not just 'great writing' or 'thanks for sharing.' Those kinds of comments are pablum if you are trying to improve your writing and are serious about making your pieces more powerful.
