Well a few days off and now back to work, but since it is now officially summer let's keep things on a light note.
Our world has changed a lot in the last while and no matter how bad you think it is.... it's not any better or worse than any other time!
Let's go back to California folks, and put on your cowboy hats because it's 1850!
Do you know what happened in early May back in 1850,
158 years ago?
California became a state,
The state had no electricity.
The state had no money.
Almost everyone spoke Spanish.
There were gunfights in the streets.
So basically, it was just like California is today,
Except the women had real breasts,
And the men didn't hold hands.
Yep, that was then, but if you travelled only half way to today (to the start of the great depression) things were still not nearly the same!
Were born before television. Penicillin, polio shots, frozen food, plastic contact lenses, video recorders and the Pill. W were before radar, credit cards, split Atoms, laser Technology, ballpoint pens and men walking on the Moon.
We got married first and THEN lived together.
We thought fast food was something you consumed in Lent, a Big Mac was a raincoat, and crumpet was something you toasted. Sheltered accommodation was where you waited for the Bus.
We were before Day Care Centres, FM Radio, tape decks or CDs, artificial hearts, words processors, yogurt or young men wearing earrings.
For us, time share meant togetherness and a chip was a piece of wood, or something you eat with fish. Hardware meant nuts and bolts and there was no such word as software.
Making out was something you did in exams and a stud was something you put in your collar. And 'going Ali the way' meant staying on the bus until it reached the Terminus.
In our day it was stylish to smoke cigarettes and grass was mown. Coke was kept in the cool house and a joint was what you had for Sunday lunch.
Rock music was what Grandmothers sang to us, a gay person was the life and soul of every party and aids actually meant helping other people.
Survivors are a hardy lot, but no wonder we're a bit confused.

U wishing you laughter
Parents knew where their kids were at 8:00 PM
Everybody on the block knew each other ~ AND their neighbor's kids, too.
PTA meetings were "standing room only"
There was only ONE television in the house, ONE telephone line, ONE car in the garage
