Hello Fellow Gatherites,
As you know, there are many talented authors that are Gather members. As an author myself (of the award-winning Darkness Descending), I know that having an independent review of one's book is very important, especially if the reviewer posts the review on Amazon. I have decided to start reviewing books of certain genres, and then posting them to a new blog site that I just set up. I'll post the review to Amazon or Barnes & Noble online, and I'm also thinking about providing a hard copy as well for authors to put in their promo materials. I will also put the link in a Gather article after each review. I know that reviewing books is very time-consuming, but I know that it's something that I enjoy and that I'm good at doing.
I'm only going to review fiction in the following categories: mainstream, romance (straight and M/M), mystery, psychological suspense, war/military, action/adventure and the only historical fiction that I'll review is WWII. At this point I'm not interested in science fiction, horror, vampire, gothic, historical or paranormal. I'm also not going to do negative reviews. If I can't honestly recommend a book, I just won't review it. After all, a review is only one person's opinion, and the next reviewer might love it.
As of right now, I'll only be accepting paperbacks. It's too difficult to read e-books. If anyone is interested, or knows someone who might be, email me here at Gather, and then we can discuss details through private email correspondence.
If you'd like to see one of my reviews that I recently posted, go to http://wryterreviews.blogspot.com/.
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to email me. Thanks everyone!

You didn't mention poetry or shorts stories so I was wondering if that was included or not.
You can email me here at gather with your answer.
Thanks.
THX for all your comments!

I hope this project goes well for you. I like writing reviews too but it often comes with my story writing time.
Keep us posted and let us know how your projects evolves. I thought about sending you my novel, Jen-Zen and the One Shoe Diaries but don't know if it'd be something you like. I have links to various excerpts in my Free Book Scavenger Hunt article that's on Gather.

How wonderful of you to do this. A good reviewer is a great asset.
I wish you reviewed poetry or adventure-travel, my two books! Smile.
Please check out my website on my profile and gather-mail me if you
someday change your mind. Thanks!
This is great.
TY for commenting on my flag day article.
Congrats on your award-winning book!

This is really neat, Bethann! I'm sure by now your reviews are already up and running. It's so great to finally be an active member of Gather and read things by authors, since that is one of my life goals (I'm a college student). I actually just posted a discussion about a recently published book by a Minnesota author (I'm from Minnesota) which got me thinking about where authors get their inspiration. If you'd care to comment, I'm sure I would much appreciate it and it would add a lot to the discussion! Thanks so much.
