Here's my problem with this case: She plea bargained, and had to give up her teaching certificate in New Jersey. So, she's free to move on to another school, and have sex with a student or many students she takes a fancy to. The laws that allow plea bargaiing are ruining this country. If she's guilty, she's guilty. Her record should follow her, so other children are safe across the nation, not just in New Jersey.
According to the Star Ledger:
"A drama teacher at Old Bridge High School in New Brunswick, New Jersey pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges of having a sexual relationship with one of her 17-year-old students.
Lisa Glide, 35, admitted to a Superior Court Judge that she has sex with one of her male students twice between February and May of last year. She said neither time was on school property.
In a plea agreement, the state dropped a second-degree sexual assault charge and reduced the degree of child endangerment from third to fourth in exchange for Glide's guilty plea. She also agreed to give up her teaching certificate and not reapply for one in any New Jersey public school."

ABSO-FRICKING-LUTELY! She shouldn't be allowed to teach ANYWHERE. Any school that hires her after this, should have to disclose this to the parents of every student. Then watch their enrollment drop like a stone.
As a teacher, I find it second only to incest. I've had students girls and boys get crushes. It's somewhat normal for kids, but for an adult. She should be in prison, not lose her license in New Jersey.

She was an authority figure. She took advantage of a student. If this were reversed, if SHE had been a HE and HE took advantage of a FEMALE student, would you take it so lightly?

I remember that. 7 years is light in my book. Kids are vulnerable to teachers. It's disgusting.

My 9th grade high school science teacher had a student older than me who was crazy about her. She was 21 or 22 and he was under 18. She became my sister in laws sister in law when she married that same fellow student who was my sister in laws husbands brother. Confused? Yea me too. I remember a few incidents where it seemed like she was talking him off a ledge, and a roof top at school. I knew she left the school after my freshman year and never got the details. I never knew why she left. All I know is she married that student and I saw them at family functions as my sister in laws home, until I divorced my ex husband. I believe he had gone into law enforcement. She was so sweet and he loved her very much.
Mary Kay L is married to the boy she went to prison for and they are raising their 2 daughters together
Hopefully any school she tried to apply for in different states would be smart enough to run a background check on her.

Had the genders been reversed, or had her victim simply been female, she'd be on her way to jail. I've no doubt of that. Teachers need to STOP this nonsense. But...
In 1958, I took a high school sophomore Algebra class. Our teacher was a lovely young lady, just out of college. A boy in the class (remember, we were 15 and 16 year-olds) went with her to the Junior-Senior Prom (she was a chaperone). When we returned to school the next fall, the boy was no longer with us. The teacher was now married... to him! AND she was pregnant.
We were in college together in 60/61, and then I lost track of him/them.
You're right there, but she should be in jail or tracked as a Federal crime.
I guess w would have to know the whole picture. But she must know that sex with her sutdent is against the law. Even if they are in love. or just lust.

It's not teachers. I'm a teacher who had lots of kids "fall in love" It's like falling in love with a therapist. A professional is a professional not a child abuser.

There is something wrong with these people if the cannot find someone their own age to start a relationship with. They should give the psychological screenings to teachers just like they do to law enforcement to halp ensure that they will not abuse their authority

I've heard there's a rash of teacher/student liasons in Florida lately. I wonder about teachers who feel that a 14 year old is proper material for "relationship". At 17, the line gets a bit fuzzy for some people.
That's because the penalty is not harsh enough.
Wow........This all is so totally sick.......there should be NO plea bargaining allowed in such cases as this.......teachers who commit this kind of crime should lose their certificate for good......in all states.
she won't have references and can't transfer a license, doubt she will get another official teaching job. more worrisome is that she could freelance and have no one watching her
I doubt she'll be able to get another teaching job. All schools do a background check and any child endangerment prosecution would pretty much disqualify her from teaching at just about any school.
Most schools are looking for young and pretty. Sorry to say not talented educators. Oh, and can you coach?
When a school hires somebody with this kind of background, they open themselves up to serious lawsuits. Most insurance companies would block the hire because of the risk.
If it would have been a male teacher with a female student I doubt that they would have let him plea down.
One of my chemistry profs. married one of his students...they've been married about 20 yrs. now...
We have students in our high schools that are about the same age as the students....
From working in the schools, I can easily see how it happens. I have watched high school girls literally THROW themselves at male teachers. I know one teacher that switched high schools, because there was a particular student that just wouldn't leave the poor guy alone. I felt so bad for him....he was scared to do anything about it, because she threatened him with telling the principal something was going on. And yes, I mentioned the incidents I saw to the administration telling them what the girl was doing. It turned in to a real mess when the admin tried to remove the girl from that teacher's class.
I also had one of my teachers get fired over unfounded allegations about improper touching....I found out the 2 girls (who were best friends) lied about it. These girls ruined a teacher's career and LIFE. It was way too late by the time I found out...and these girls were so proud of what they did too...(and bragged about it).

One of the reasons I'm not teaching in the schools now is I couldn't stand things the kids did. I've been smacked on the butt and other harassing things by male students. There isn't much you can do about it either. Unless it's witnessed by another teacher, nothing gets done. The other students find it funny...
Me, too, but it wasn't sexaul things. It was just the same mind set of letting people do what they want, say sorry, and be on your way. I had one kid stab another, but he was the football captain, and got two days detention to be served as he had time.
I quit.

Same with priests who did the same thing. They just moved onto another area, and did it again. Guilty should be guilty, and that's all.
Why is it always female teachers who do this? I honestly can't remember the last time I heard of a sexual allegation against a male teacher.
And it seems more often than not these are ATTRACTIVE women who should have no problem finding playmates who, you know, are at least 19!
I had a male teacher molest me in the 8th grade. I smacked him upside his head.
This is another one of those times that I think they need to look at these teens too. I am not saying this just because she is female either. I have said it other times when men are charged and on a registry for life for something that teen agreed to do. At 17 they are close to adult hood. Even if they were 15 or 16 they are having sex, sure the teacher shouldn't of done it and yes maybe she should be charged. However, is the teacher the only one at fault?
In Texas, 17 is the age of legal consent..........and I feel certain that a 17 year old knew exactly what he was doing and she didn't have to do any arm turning..........
