Not all news is negative March 12, 2009 edition

There was an article a few days ago bemoaning the fact that all the news is negative.

I say there is positive news out there. I see it often. I'm not talking about fluff pieces about kittens and I'm talking about real news.

Today I offer two positive stories.

1.) Retail sales numbers for January were revised - UPWARD. It seems that reports of the death of the american consumer were premature.

2.) A stage three clinical study of new drug from Pfizer was halted early after the drug showed significant benefit in cancer patients. This means the drug will be available sooner than if the trial was left to run to completion.

Thanks, Pat. We certainly do need some perspective in this country. 7% unemployment means 93% of the country is either employed or doesn't need to be. The irrational fear and angst built up by focusing on only bad news is keeping us from progressing forward.
