The money spent on the TROUBLED ASSET RELIEF PROGRAM (TARP) has remained a hot button issue.
Do you want to know if your bank or other banks in your area received funds?
Check the list from the treasury deptment:
http://www.treasury.gov/initiatives/eesa/transactions.shtml
The document is cumulative, so just select the most recent one to see the complete list.
It does take some patience to find specific instittuitons because the list is in chronological order, but the search feature is effective.
Did you know that some of the money given out under TARP is already beginning to come back in?
Today, Iberia Bank returned the TARP funds. Iberia is a bank that operates in Lousiana. They decided the changes in the rules, make the cost of the money too high to be wothwhile. Likewise, Nothern Trust is preparing to return the money.
I know the TARP program is very unpopular. I present this information so that next time you get sucked into a discussion about it or hear some blowhard talking head ranting about it, you can have the facts to evaluate for yourself what is going on.
