Is it just me or does every conservative get a feeling that we are being taken over by the US Congress and now in Janurary 2009 by the Administrative branch of the US government? It's bad enough when we have to wait for a news reporter to build up the nerve to ask congressmen or Obe what they are doing to correct the US energy policy, the mortgage lending escapade or other matters of national importance. But, to have the congressmen ignore or deflect any reasonable answer while on public television gives me the feeling that we are very low on the food chain.
Another indicator is when we realize that the congress is playing monoply with the bail out funds and denieing it face to face with questioners. It is a throwback to the old days of the Mafia, when disgression was the better part of valor or one experienced a neck tie death with double ought buck shot. This is usually followed up by some double talk and in many cases just a look of, "So what are you going to do about it?"
The US congressional representatives do not care one iota for the demands of the US citizens and as much as tell us to go to hell.
Of course one may write his congressman with an explanation why he thinks mistakes are being made in congress and to please take action to correct them. The automation of your past taxes goes into full play and you receive a nice boilerplate letter in return with some nimble excuse or an oblique justification for congressional actions.
The current bail outs will be the undoing of all of us in this country if they continue to be practiced as a cure all to the problems of the automobile, aircraft, mortgage lending, banks and just about every other opportunist when money is squandered.
Because those in control of our government will begin a four year effort to make the US a socialist nation, we and our offspring are destined to lead the life of complete indebtedness.
The result is that we will have gone from election of the first black president to the slavery of the complete population with the exception of the prividledged few who are in control of our government. This will find our nation with a weakened military preparation for our protection from our enemies. Sounds familiar dosen't it?
The final epitaph will surely read, "Previous Site of the United States".

The epitaph will surely read the Previous site of the US.
I've given a few news papers and news outlets a piece of my mind, simply because they refuse to cover any negativity about Obama, and they have not been exactly nice either.
I think Ford has a good handle on their financial situations, but Chrysler and GM scare me, if they can't survive without a bailout, i have to say right now they most likely won't survive with one, and the tax payers will be out millions on millions of dollars.
Obama and the democrats really worry me with this bail out
I don't think we sould be bailing huge corporations out like this, but since when does the Opinion of the People matter,
Mooch
The opinion of the people does matter when they decide to express it by changing congress! And that is what was just accomplished. If congress does not seem to be listening to the people either the people haven't really tried to get it across or one's perception is warped by their personal preference and congress is listening and reacting.
Very good and nicely written article expressing you view! Appreciate your viewpoint even though I see it quite differently.
I can appreciate everything you said, because I have had the exact same identical feeling since Jan 2001, and then especially in 2004! Hopefully I am finally going to see some relief.
