I currently havethe TV on CBS. I am listening to the debate right now but I am not impressed so far with either of them!!! Hopefully that will change before it is over.

I watched "Supernatural" and am now back online. I saw a minute or so of the debate; that was more than enough for me. I'd probably have to watch it if this were back in my undergrad days (I have a degree in Political Science), but, thankfully, I already have that degree in hand (or, rather, stuffed in a desk drawer).

Where are these "amazing" conversations? I see one article there with 17 comments.

I did enjoy myself on another Gather debate article (that generated 450+ comments and probably resulted in some pretty buzzed Gather members) though...

Janna - I have seen at least 10 articles if not more on this subject tonight just going through my feeds. Do a search if they are not showing up in your feeds. I am sure they will come up for you.

Chris E.--I am well aware that there were many articles about the debate, as it happened. As I said above, I spent the evening drinkin' and screamin' and mockin' and cursin' on one of them. My point was that there were no "amazing conversations happening in the Politics Essential [a Gather Group™]", as advertised in this article. Unless, of course, you count a mostly one-sided 17 comment conversation with Don "dim-O-wit" H. as "amazing".

Any intelligent and well informed citizen can for his own opinion by looking at the farse of Palin performance after her indoctrination by the party faithful.It will be a great blow to reason if she gets elected and I hope all wise people of either party will do their part to make sure it does not happen.Not to mention the disaster McCain himself represents for the country...what a duo....SNL could not have picked a better couple to reveal the cruel ignorance and low standards we have reached as a country.

I watched, and you can give debating points to Palin for keeping on message, reinterating the same worn-out points. If you are grading on style, Palin wins. What counts for me is substance and answering the questions asked.

Anyone can cram for an exam but leading the country (or being 2nd in command) is not one of those things you can learn how to do in a month. I really expected a little more of the usually "foot in her mouth" Sarah we know and love to loathe ... but her staff did a good job of providing her with appropriate sound bites and retorts. She does know how to revert to and milk that soccer mom thing for all it's worth, doesn't she?

Also ... I think the McCain camp must have called in every favor in the book to get the debate format that saved Palin's A$$ during most of the questions. I think Gwen even helped her out on more occasions than was prudent.

I think Gov. Palin did an excellent job and Sen. Biden did an ok job - I think he came off a little strong and a little too much, as Palin said, dwelling on the past, rather than what he and Obama will do in the future. Palin focused more on what she and McCain will do on the issues and the future. I think Palin did an excellent job!!!

Biden was at 80 percent on the MSNBC poll at 11 p.m. and Palin at 17 percent; now on the MSNBC poll Biden is at 75 and Palin at 21 percent. Even if the polls adjust to 60/30, it still indicates a likely landslide. And I doubt the polls will adjust much more than say

73/24.
