My wants are few... All of the things of real value to me can't be bought with money... (Well... wait a minute here... uhm... Nah. I'm SURE they can't be bought...) only "given".
"Can't buy me luh..huve...".(fab four way of saying love)....can't buy happiness, faith, endurance, integrity, etc. I could go on, but my time is hurrying by. Oh, yeah, can't buy time. And don't want to. I just want all of these things and more....and similar
The dog could have a purse built into its collar, fanny pack style. If, by some magical process I did buy everything I ever wanted I would be terminally baffled. Which mansion in which country should I live in? Which toothbrush should I use? Which car should I drive? Which of my new friends actually liked me?
Did you see the movie that was out some time ago, "My dog the Thief?" He was a big St. Bernard that got everything he wanted and then some. That's a real cute cartoon.
Last night HBO rebroadcast a George Carlin concert in which he did his "Stuff" routine - your house is a big storage box with a roof to contain your stuff. I understand his point - home is where the stuff you claim is found, and anyone borrowing or permanently borrowing (stealing) upsets us no end. We call the police, we take revenge on offenders and all because this is the stuff we claim. I like the dog's point about not having a place to put money - some of us need to re-evaluate how much we need and how much we just WANT. Great commentary on people once more, John.
Thanks, Donna. That is a great Carlin piece on "stuff," one of my favorites.
Of course, re-evaluating what we need versus what we want brings up those two terms again that we have gone around on several times before with other Bytes.
If this packing experince as reinforced anythng it is the sillyness of materialism. Now that isn't true for all John I was a collecter collected butterfly.....now I watch them in my garden I collected Bells... Now I see them in my minnds eye when a ides pops in
I collected all things winged ...now they fly about with my memories.
which is what I now collect...memories can never be taken away, or leave you with "where do I pack this one" itis!
Excellent Thought (ful) Byte. I am in the tedious process of eliminating stuff I thought I "needed" and learning that most of the important stuff I couldn't buy with money anyway.
Ahhhh. Thanks for the gentle prod. There are layers indeed. That pooch will never own a thing. One cannot buy love and adoration . . . but can earn it . . . making it more 'special' . . . even priceless. Had a conversation earlier about 'stuff' . . . essentially choosing whether to save a kitten or a priceless DaVinci from a burning building. Alright. Tip o' the hat to you . . . you did get me thinking after all! :)
They made me think maybe the reason dogs don't have a way to carry money is because they are in the moment all the time and one can only handle so much joy.

I love the dog. lol

I don't know about you, but I don't even give my cat an allowance.
Interesting phrase you use - "all the junk I admire." Use of the word junk may tell us something as well.
I guarantee you there is more than meets the eye at first glance.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Thanks, Gayle.
Time is important in this context and not only for the reason you give.
Without too much stuff, I won't have a reason to design over-sized homes for people and their stuff. :~P
Have you met Vivian (see above) You look like sisters :)

Have a good move. Maybe these will help:
Moving's for dummies and Stuff and nonsense - Oh, what to move?
It's probably for the best really. Credit cards are no good!
That always amazed me: the stuff I "needed" that's now in my way.

Thanks for those perspectives.

And a lot of people are!
Thanks.
