Originally, my first book (More Deaths Than One) was going to be released in September and the second (A Spark of Heavenly Fire) in October, then both were going to be released at the beginning of November, now I'm looking at December or maybe even January.
I understand about publishing delays, but my publishing date always seems to be just out of reach. It makes me feel as if I'm in a strange game where the quarterback told me to go long and he'd pass me the ball. So there I am out in left field, waiting to dunk the ball or perhaps dropkick it home. Play after play, down after down, inning after inning I stand there, bouncing on the balls of my feet, hands in the air, planning my victory dance. But I never get the ball.
I can see everyone else on the team running around the bases, throwing passes, making baskets. Empty-handed, I wait. And wait. Eventually, I know, I will get the ball. But will I remember what I'm supposed to do with it?

Smile Pat, your books will be published soon.
Good luck, Pat!
What reason are they giving you for the delay?
Do you feel a bit like JoBeth Williams in Poltergeist, running down that hall to rescue her kids, only the hall keeps getting longer and longer and loooooongggeerrrr....?
Mazurka was supposed to be out last June, got delayed to "fall" and now "January." Same with Healey's Cave (now April) But I do trust my pub, and I know they will be out soon. She came through will my other book and I know lots of authors who are delighted to be in her hands.
But life in this business is crazy - always dependent on folks who are halfway across the globe and who have real lives that get interrupted and delayed... The editor might become ill, the artist breaks her wrist, the pub gets pneumonia. All gets backed up a few weeks or months. And it costs them about 5 grand to get a book out there, usually, so they must maneuver the funds around to make ends meet while trying to make their schedules.
Try not to worry - when it happens, it will be all the sweeter. ;o)
It will happen. :)
It will happen for both of us. Just need a little patience. :)
Sounds like you're definitely in the right venue. This is the pattern of the publishing industry, and your time will come. I'm taking it as a good sign! ;-)
Any day now...you'll be writing to let us know they're out and ready for reading.
