I used to be a member of several niche/specific groups, but never really utilized them much, so I removed myself from many of those months ago. The side effect of that was that I ended up accepting lots of invites for "post anything" type groups.
Almost 10 pages worth of "post anything" groups later, it was ridiculous trying to post to them every time. Even while using FF's iMacro add-on that automates it all, it meant that I'd have to sit there watching them clicked for me.....or more likely, I'd go do something else, get distracted, and ultimately it would be a while before I came back to finish up the post in the first place.
So I just turned that 10 pages into under 4. I might still remove some more, but this was a start. I deleted the ones where the owner hadn't been around for a several months....and ones where there wasn't even any activity in the group at all for a few months. Why be a part of a group that even 'others' aren't using, much less myself?
I also deleted a few more niche-specific groups that I'd held onto. The truth is, I hadn't been using them anyway and a quick search later will always pull them back up for me if I want to look at the contents. I didn't get rid of all the specific groups, though, because I do hope to use more of them soon (like the gaming groups).
It might not be much, but at least it declutters some of the stuff that bogs down my experience here. It used to work out for me just fine, but I don't think I need all of those groups any more. No offense meant if I removed myself from any of your groups.

Anyway, I got rid of groups that I didn't use but started accepting "anything" groups. Then it got out of hand for me too. So I went and the first thing I did was remove groups where you can't swear because I tend to pepper my articles with some bad words. Figured that would save me time!! Then I got rid of people who have never logged on. It's a start!
