This past friday, my wife and I attended our local kickoff party for partiticipants in National Novel Writing Month. For those unfamiliar with this event, the goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. Lots more information is available on the site, which also raises money for its young writers programs.
We were among a dozen local participants who attended the event at the Borders store in Hyannis MA. We had a great time and we're looking forward to the start of writing on 11/1. Gynn and I were both "winners" last year. In fact, all 50,000 words of my alternative history/epic fantasy/zombie horror/western novel are posted here on Gather (search my tags for "nano" or "nanowrimo" and you should find it).
This year, Gynn and I will both be writing comic/graphic novel scripts.
Gynn also designed this logo for our local group of Nano writers:

We're looking forward to a month of frantic writing.
If you're local, join us Monday and Thursday evenings at Borders in Hyannis. There may also be write-ins happening at Starbucks in Mashpee. There is a forum for the Cape Cod region on the Nanowrimo site where more information will be posted for those of you in this area, as well as regional forums for locations around the world.
Good luck and good (or at least speedy) writing to everyone participating this year!
