I am the flag of the United Staes of America. My name is Old Glory.
I fly atop the world's tallest buildings. I stand watch in America's halls of justice.
I fly majestically over intitutes of learning. I stand guard with power in the world.
Look up and see me.
I stand for peace, honor truth and justice. I stand for freedom.
I am confident. I am arrogant.
I am proud.
When I am flown with my fellow banners, My head is a little higher,
My colors a little truer, I bow to no one!
I am recognized all over the owrld.
I am worshipped - I am saluted.
I am loved - I am revered.
I have fought in every battle of every war for more than 200 years.
I was flown at Valley Forg,Gettysburg,Shiloh and appomattox.
I was there at San Juan Hill, the trenches of France,in the Argonne Forest and Rome, and the beaches of Normandy,Guam,Okinawa,Korea and KheSan,Saigon,Vietnam, know me.
I'm presently in the mountains of Afganistan and the hot and dusty deserts of Iraq and wherever freedom is needed.
I led my troops,Iwas dirty, battle worn and tired,But my soldiers cheered me and I was proud.
I have been burned, torn and trampled on the streets of my counrty.
And when it's done by those Whom I've served in battle it hurts.
But I shall overcome - for I am strong.
I have slipped the bonds of Earth and stood watch over the uncharted frontiers of space from my vantage point on the moon.
I have borne silent witness to all of America's finest hours. But my finest hours are yet to come.
When I am torn into strips and used as nadages for my wounded comrades on the battlefield,When I am flown at half-mast to honor my soldier,
Or when I lie in the trembling arms of a grieving parent at the grave of their fallen son or daughter, I am proud. Or when I'm in the arms of a husband or wife grieving at the grave of their fallen spouse, I am proud.
Please forward my message to all who still love and respect me that I may fly for another 200 years.

I don't consider the flag to be nothing,it is a symbol of our freedom,a symbol of what our country stands for.
That sounds like something my brother might do if he got the chance,he is very loyal to this country and although he's not in any branch of the military services(probably for the best) he can't stand it when anyone or anything says or does something that goes against what he was taught our country stands for.
He gets quite hot headed when it comes to certain things, the biggies for him are anyone saying anything that could be comsidered vulgar rude crewd lewd etc. towards me his sister(even though he says he hates having a sister) he's not going to stand back and watch someone do or say something that he wouldn't even say to me,and the next ones are people driving like idiots or cutting off our mother, running stop signs nearly causing accidents because they're too busy putting on makeup, eating, shaving, drinking, being drunk, running stop lights, nearly running emergency vehicles off the road and nearly running our parents off the road or into a concrete barrier, and lastly anything that goes against what we were taught America stands for growing up.
I always did like to see "flaming fools."
That's something to be proud of?
When you commented earlier about the flag being a false idol you have a good point there.
I only post whatever comes to my mind on here and everyone has the freedom to choose whether or not they comment on what I post on here.
I don't like wars because they're so violent and so many people get hurt or killed, but the government does and says what they want to no matter what we say.
