Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema had painted me
(For the Art of Writing Group)
Too lethargic to welcome you but
this way it’s more sensual, I know.
A fruit falls from the languid silence.
May a common bloke pick it up; stuff
in his pocket as a memento?
Fruits for an old serpent; devour it.
Fruits for a tiger; do you hide one?
Oh! Just a messenger boy; are you?
I see I can have more this silence
to taste lying on a dead passion’s skin.
Note promises he won’t be coming;
but answer me, do you want to leave?

The second, I love Haiku, so this is my *second* favorite. I haven't written a Haiku in so long, you'd never know it's a form I do love. You might have just given me some inspiration.

Thank you for posting to The Surreal Circus.
.....too cool!!!!!
I truly like both of these, I have never written a haiku but you make it look so easy, which I know it is not, because I have tried and tried
Great Job, IMHO~~~~

Such an appropriate wondering! I wondered same when I viewed the painting...a sad sort of rendition, I thought.
These were lovely!

podar, these were both absolutely wonderful. they so described the scene that i didn't even need the image in front of me as it immediately popped into my head.
