Sense and sensibility
Sense is a feeling
albeit lacking it
has been plaguing me
through this life, my life.
Ha! Irony is
I can always feel it.
I can feel others
but can’t feel own guts.
Hence I am the one,
the curious cat
he has seen amid
the puddle of blood.
And he has the sense
not to follow
the assassin’s track.

Two way radio
A two way radio was the gift
on his tenth birth anniversary
and he just wanted to run away
through radio’s cracking messages,
through breaking connections, through ether.
His radio set caught his mate’s voice,
“Meet me at the garden at eight.”
He did. It was his secret, hushed,
innocent and no more secret
than the collection pebbles
he valued and loved to pretend
as diamonds. The pretenses were endless.
Still he pretends sometimes of someone,
a special friend, to whom he whispers
now and then through an invisible
set of radio….
Nobody knows.

Excellent. The last one is captivating.
Interesting imagery! :-)
Blessings and best wishes - S.
Intense and introspective. I suspect you meant "puddle" in place of "poodle".
You are very helpful. I am clearing the mud now.
Another poem that resonates. How do you do that? Thank you for penning what I feel. It helps me.
Poets thrive on the 'sense' of others. Loved the poem but if the cat is truly curious would he not want to follow the assassin's trail. I know that's where I made my mistake.
The cat is killed, I am the cat. The beholder is the wise one not to follow.
You and I, my brother, then need to stop being the cat, heh?
You bet.
Curiosity killed the cat...... satisfaction brought him back:)
I liked these. In the second one, I remember feeling like the radio was a portal into another dimension that was real, but couldn't be seen. I loved that feeling.... of connected worlds.
From your poetry, I sense that you have an inate gift of sense, a feeling for the sublime as well as the curiosity and cation of the cat...plus brains. Ahhh the innocence
of childhood to let the imagination loose...Thanks, you inspire
excuse my spelling, "caution of the cat"
Excellent.
On Sense and Sensibility, I am not quite sure I am getting it. Are you saying you are sympathetic/empathetic but not toward yourself? That is what I am getting. Ok, I just read the comments and now understand the cat reference, but still feel you are saying more about some kind of self doubt.
On Two Way Radio, beautiful Kushal. I feel this is something most of us can relate to. I have always felt this way about music. Thank you!
Poddar, you always play well with words!
thanks

Thanks for posting to my group, Anythingwriting
You have plenty of good sense Kush.
I love let's pretend.
Your wit is wry on this personal explore of sensing vs. having good sense. Often the two inform each other but not always.
...and the intuitive relationships over the airwaves... my all time favorite medium for 'cosmic affairs'...those very special friends one can sense in the ether but only rarely get to actualize.
Smart word play Kushal

I've read it (the book), seen the movie and now I've read two ruby poems - an excellent work dear Poddar.
Hi Haim. Nice to "see" you (still not smiling :-D))
Did not read the book, but saw the movies (the original and the re-make). Poddar reveals a lot about himself and shows how much we are all alike.
I enjoyed "The Two Way Radio" a lot.
Thanks for sharing Poddar. Always love to read them even when I don't post a comment.
I am glad that you can find time to read my poems.
Thank you.

I thought I liked two way radio best but find myself drawn to the first one. Something about it is compelling.
i love to read your writings keep up the good work my friend
I like both, but love the second one.
Ah, the symbolisim in the Two Way Radio is compelling. Sense is vibrating. A double kiss to the words.
Two Way Radio is my favorite too. You draw pictures with your words.
two way radios, the predecessor of the Internet?
Did you get such a radio? Either way, an excellent metaphor.
No Kathryn, but my friend have one.

Poetry of substance and words that go a long way in meaning, or let me say words that produce sense so sensibly. Very exciting pieces dear.
Poets like you, Ku, will save poetry from a death of boredom. You make things new and refreshing. Excellent poems.
The second one is particularly mysterious - what kind of interlude was it???
