Today, officially eight years ago today, I married my wonderful husband, Donald. We have two precious kids, Chris and Matthew.
Our story is a simple one of friends who became so much more. Something that started out as simple horsing around and working in the same department night after night for over nine months.
He sat with me, while I waited for my mother to come pick me up from work. I had still been living at home after graduation. I had no job or car, until one day, I decided I didn't wish to beg my mommy to take me anywhere, so I asked her one last favor. I would get a job and she would give me a ride. So, eventually I could get a car and go where ever I wished.
Well, the first day after getting hired, my boss, Cindy Keith showed me around and there he was in front of the deli wearing the goofy uniform back then, of a black and white striped apron and a weird black and white cap. He had been sweeping the floor and he waved at me. My first thought of course was, This guy doesn't know me. Why is waving at me?
Even though I felt that way, I awkwardly waved back at him.
Progress forward, I met a blond named Jeanette. Turns out she was his older sister and we became fast friends. We chatted about tons of stuff and became close. While on the other end, Donald and I were great pals. We had fun teasing each other and even picked me up a time or two, giving me big hugs.
The most fun we had was while mopping up after hours. He did one end, while I mopped the other. And, our other boss, Flo would shake her head at us.
Fast forward again, sooner or later after many chats with me, while waiting for my mom to pick me up, I began to realize that I have a huge crush on him. And, I begin to bug his sister almost every time I saw her wondering if he might like me back just a little bit.
For months I kept my feelings to myself not knowing if he would reject me like other boys I liked did in the past. And, even one point in time, I thought he had a girlfriend, so I was disappointed. Only to find out that there were not an item and I was in the clear, so to speak.
One night we were goofing off again, and I got out the little notebook I always carry in my purse and I said, my name is Angie and I live in a trailer park. Well, he wrote down where he lived as well. And, before we knew it, we finally exchanged phone numbers.
After nine long months, we finally called. Well, he called me first, unexpectedly. I had always heard that men never call when they say they will. So the next night after getting my phone number, and he called, well, it almost gave me a heart attack.
We just chatted as usual and he told me what he was doing. He was on his computer playing Monopoly. And, I was watching t.v. which was the normal thing for me to do. I was never all that sociable.
We said goodnight. And, I called him the next day.
Finally, I got up the nerve to tell him I would like to go out with him. He asked, "Like a date?" And, I said, "yes."
I waited for the axe to fall but, when he said, "Sure. When?"
I about freaked out again over the shock. Finally, someone who liked me back. I was overjoyed.
We went to the movies for our first date. And, it was so very awesome! We had basically the same taste in films and we shared some popcorn. He paid, of course like a true gentleman would.
All night I wondered if I should kiss him because I really wanted to. When we came back to my trailer that night, he kissed my hand. I didn't want anything to do with that, so I went for it. I planted a kiss on his lips. And, I never regretted it for one second.
We had at least four or five dates after that. But, I won't go into detail because then I'd have to flag this post for mature, adult content. Te he!
Anywho, it's been eight wonderful years of loving, laughing and awesome times watching movies together.
So, wish me a great day. And, hugs to all my friends!

Congratulations! Happy Anniversary! If you were in my novel that I am writing, I would plan a cool and sexy party for you!!!
But I am sure you can do that on your own.....
Sure, go ahead. But, of course in my party we'd have soda and lemonade. Neither hubby or I drink booze. We're rather dull. Te he!

How wonderful for you both; enjoy the day and celebrate your togetherness Angela.
This is such a wonderful story of you and Donald that I am featuring it on The Romantics. What's sweeter than true romance after all.

btw beautiful story
Thanks Renee, you're a dear.
Your story unfolds like a romantic movie (Jimmy Stewart was in (my mind has blanks)). Very nice and Happy Anniversary.
I'm sure your only thought is to please your husband, so you'll watch only the first 30 minutes of the Stepford wives together: You'll take notes of course. Then, if you're not a blonde you'll become one. Then at supper you'll ask him if he wants his bread buttered on both sides, look at the floor and wonder about yellow waxy build up.
Check out my newest icon coming out today. I just turned blond. How spooky is it that you predicted it? Whew, eh ew!
Te he!
Happy Anniversary,Angela.
Thank you, Bhawana.
Happy anniversary! I've almost been married 8 years to the man of my dreams too (this coming January)
Thanks Jan for the wishes!
And, thanks for letting me know about your upcoming anniversary.
I'm late and playing catch-up but hope you had a lovely anniversary.
