I still have
The sunflower you gave to me
Once upon that cool
Late summer day
We walked down the lane
Your hand in mine
Tree shrouded by gentle branches
Arching over us as though
In protective embrace
With sun dapples falling through the leaves
We came upon the vision
Bright in summertime yellow
As the light of summer fades
Ever lower in the evening sky
I still have
The sunflower you gave me
In perfection's mystery
It has never faded
No single petal has fallen
Since that cool late summer's day
