CVS Shopping Trip 8/17/09 ~ $105.02 Retail for $2.08 out of pocket cash ~

CVS shopping yesterday---I used a lot of rainchecks because I had a $6 off of $36 purchase CVS coupon from the scanner last week.  My CVS doesn't have a scanner, but I have a friend who has one at her store and she scans my card for me.  I wasn't interested in more school supplies because since they changed how they charge tax on extra bucks the tax was eating up my gift cards too quickly so I am being a little more picky about what I buy.  Umm, maybe a little more cheap--if that is possible.

When I receive an extra buck from a raincheck they are not taxable when used, so I super enjoy CVS rainchecks now.

Here are my purchases:

Abbreviations below:

RC--raincheck

ECB--extra care buck

1--CVS Tampon  1.89 get 1.89 ecb

2--Calibar/CVS 10 ct. Pencils RC  .99 each get .99 ecb

1--Bayer Contour Meter  RC  19.99 get 5.00 ecb Used a 19.99 manufactuer coupon

3--Tylenol Arthritis  RC  3.99 each get 3.00 ecb each  Used 3 2.00 manu. coupon

1--Pens  .99 get .99 extra bucks

 

Total Retail price: $105.02 (79.99 is the monitor)

Total Sale price:  $36.83

Paid with: $25.99 in Manufacturers' coupons listed above; $6 off $36 CVS coupon; a $5 extra buck adjusted to $4.84; and $2.08 from a Gather earned CVS gift card for the tax.

I received $18.88 in extra bucks.

I use about 60 percent probably and donate the rest. I buy for myself, my husband, my mom and my two college age daughters--so we use alot of stuff. The monitors I usually donate to an adult daycare, but my mom takes a few to keep up with her blood sugar to be sure it doesn't go into diabetic ranges. I have found lots of charities that can take anything I get.

Thanks for your response. I'm just starting to learn about the CVS bucks(a little behind the bandwagon obviously), but just wondering what you did with what you couldn't use, yet still got great deals on. Thanks again!

Before they changed the tax thing I got ANYTHING I could get free because I could always find a local charity that needed if I didn't and it helped me "roll" my extra bucks into later expiration dates and often, like on the monitor, I "make" more extra bucks than I spend. So I make money at CVS. Friends and family often get gift baskets of beauty items or something like that, too. I also try to keep at a years' worth of non-perishable stuff in the house so I never pay full price again.

I have only been doing it a year so you will learn--unfortunately I learned a lot thru mistakes, too, but I learned well when I lost money!!

I read and read and read what others did and my daughter helped me, too. I have been doing it a year. So if I can do you will be able to--it taks awhile.

Great job as always C. It's pretty neat we both spent the exact amount this week:) I love it when they have the Bayer deals. Did you ever get the Airwick deal last week? My store did not have it, so I got rain checks, but they were still out this week.

Yes, I got one Airwick--I only had one coupon. love the Bayer deals--rather they be 14.99 because of tax, but still come out ahead. A friend just sent me more coupons:)

If your coupons are going to expire you might want to ask the manager if they can order them for you. Mine will--she even went as far once to say keep the coupons they'd take them expired since the product didn't come in and I had ordered it on time. They have even rang something up they were out of stock on and let me "pay" and give me a "paid" raincheck for when it finally came in.

you'll get the hang of it! I've been doing it a year now and have my extra bucks built up so it is easy to roll them without seperate transactions. keep reading all the posts of how people do it--that is how I learned.

That's great! I used to really watch CVS sales but lately have been slacking again. I'm going to have to start keeping better track of coupons and sales now, though.

I usually have the ads up early at CVS Extra Bucks Make Cents and often have coupon matchups. I try to put all the free after extra buck and coupon deals each week. The current deals are always on the featured posts on the home page of the group so they are easy to find. Maybe it will help jump start you again.

Well I spent $6.43. I didn't do so well but I am still a CVS baby, remember. C,L.R. is a super duper teacher though. Thanks a lot! I got 4 of the travel first aid kits for 99c each and got $4 Easy Bucks back on them. I had a coupon for a free CVS brand toothbrush. They had Purex softener and detergent sheets Buy 1 Get 1 Free for $8.99 and I had $1 coupon. I also had $5 Easy Bucks from last week. I was proud of it anyway.

That sounds great--you got a lot of stuff and have almost as many extra bucks left as when you started. Just the ONE Purex would have been more than the 6.43 you spent:) I'm jealous you got the first aid kits:( [lol] but I am going to have my store order them to match my coupons.

Just amazing.
You'll get a kick out of this. I visited a CVS on my way home one day. No coupons with me. I spent about $16, no coupons, no ECB, but got great clearance deals. Then I promptly lost my receipt with my free gift on it.
