Freak Storm Yesterday!!!

Yesterday was just supposed to be hot and sunny, but about 4:00 in the afternoon clouds started to build, so I asked my mom if it was supposed to rain and she said there was no reports of rain (she watches the weather channel a lot, so should know)....no sooner than I asked it started to rain lightly but within 5 minutes was a downpour with very strong winds and thunder.

I admit I love a good thunderstorm, but suddenly the winds just got totally crazy strong and tree limbs starting flying as I was looking out the front door. Then there was a "crack crack" sound and down comes the neighbors tree , I scream and it lands next to the drive way a fraction of an inch away from smaching both my nephew & nieces cars!!

Then 2 minutes later there are more "crack crack" sounds and down come 2 trees in the back yard! One smooshing my other neigbhors fence where he had just been sitting on his patio but had gone in a minute before to get away from the thunder. The trees pulled down wires in the yard and they started smoking then "BAM!" out goes the power (about 5:00 PM)

The storm lasted a couple of hours and there are trees and telephone  down all over the area. Luckily the internet is still up and running but the cable tv is out and will be until we can get the tree off of the wires.

The strange thing is the storm was only in I believe a few mile radius, and I can't find any reports of it on the local news sites. And while it knocked down the trees in the back yard, the birdbath in the middle of the yard is still standing! Weird!

Oh, the power wasn't restored until 5:45 AM this morning. Ugh what a night! Temps had been in the high 90's yesterday so with no fans on it was unbearable and my mom couldn't have her AC going which she needs for medicial reasons.

Now there will be the hassel of cleaning up.....
