My First Photo Essay: A Night at the Drive In!

I have been wanting to go to the drive in movie theater forever, but it seemed like everytime I checked the weather it was suppose to rain! Well finally this past weekend it was going to be a good night to go so we made the plans!

 

This is my excited face when we pull out of my apartment! Yay we are going! :)

Finally we get on the road. It is not a very long trip to Monetta, SC only around 30 minutes from my apartment! It was so pretty outside on the way!

My boyfriend Kerrick driving us! Since we took my car I wanted to ride in the passenger seat since I hardly ever get to enjoy riding in the convertible beause I'm always the driver!

Me taking pictures on the way trying to pass the time! Monetta is a small town so there wasn't much to look at on the way!

You couldn't ask for a more beautiful day!

 WOHOO! I SEE OUR EXIT FOR MONETTA! WE ARE GETTING CLOSE!! :)

  

Well, my hair was pretty and straight before we left, but after going 70 miles an hour down the interstate it was all over the place!!

YAY WE ARE FINALLY HERE!!! The BIG MO! 

 Waiting for it to get dark! The show didn't start til 9pm but we had to get there early to get a good spot!

 

 Eating some hot buttery popcorn while we wait for the movie!

 

 Finally it's dark! QUICK!

 Turn it to the right station!!

 I love previews! Can't wait for this one to come out!!

Guess I will just have to wait til November!!

 

SHHH!! THE SHOW IS STARTING!!!

We were seeing Hancock. It was a pretty good one!

Can't wait to come back to see this one!!

Nice photo essay! We have a drive in by us and we try to go as much as we can. There's nothing like it on a good summer night.

So very cool! I love the drive-in! I'm lucky enough to have one 10 minutes away and go as often as I can. Although my car is not as cool as yours for seeing movies in! I'm jealous! haha.

I love drive-ins! haven't been in quite a few years though. Great photo essay, looks like you had a great time. Wish I had a convertible..those are cool too ..except for the convertible hair..bandanas are good for that, and to keep the hair from flying in your face. though, mine is so long I can usually pull it back and lean on it to keep it tame LOL

Great pictures. Looks like you had fun.

I have such fond memories of goingto the drive in when I was a child. There are no drive ins around me anymore. I am in search of on not to far away that I can take my children to so they can experience it too.

great photo essay! Looks like a lot of fun. Last time I tried to go to the drive in there were tons of jerks who turned their cars around when their move was over and pointed their headlights at our screen so they could finish watching ours or watch the second feature for our screen. We've never gone back, it was such a bad experience.

Great photo essay Chelsea. Not bad for your first one. I really like your car. I wish we had a drive in close to us but no such luck. The summer isn't too long here so they don't make a lot of money.

wow.. i remember the last time i went to a drive thru.. we saw snow white.. it was so much fun ! i would love to go to one but i don't think there are any in my area.. i would have to do some research ! but i wanna see hancock soo bad ! glad to see you had a good time ! fun photo essay !

Great essay, try next time to put the pictures in the essay large size maybe it wont be pixelated. All you do is when you are at the page to add the pictures click on the pictures it will make them bigger then add them to the article.

I sure wish we still had drivins around here

Ohhhh....you sparked a memory...way back when...there was a drive in on the out skirts of town and it the main attraction for many families, lonely people, and sweet hearts. It was one of those that had the meters....they never worked, and neither did the speakers. We would all pile in and bring our own food except for the popcorn and for the fact that we had to check out the boys. It was always a car load of girls, silly, laughing, good clean fun...until the night the bats came! Yes, we always saw these things flyin around and did not know they were bats. They were eating the insects that came attracted to the lights. It was creepy especially when the Dracula movies came to the scene. No one would dare go to the potty or the snack stand for fear of them wanting to drink our blood!
Little did I know then what wonderful creatures they really are, and so misunderstood. Now I have grear respect for them and one bat house. Tootles, and thanks for the memories. I give you a ten.

I remember going to these when I was very young. We have one nearby and I have been talking about going....just haven't done it yet.
