Are you closer to your mom or dad?

I have heard in some studies that proved children are much closer to their opposite gender parent. Like girls are more likely to be closer to their fathers and boys are more likely to be closer to their mothers. I have also observed that it is mostly true to some people. I think thats what they call Oedipus complex and electra complex which was taken from the literature a long time ago.
Do you believe in this too?
Is this also applicable to you?

I'm closer to my Mom . . my dad was barely ever around when I was younger, so it was kind of hard to get close to him.

MOM IS MORE BUT DAD I HAVE GOTTEN CLOSER AS I GOT OLDER AND HAD KIDS---HE EVEN WAS IN THE ROOM WITH A COOL CLOTH ON MY HEAD WHEN MY CHILDREN CAME INTO THE WORLD~~~DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH CLOSER WE COULD GET!

I was closer to my mom and I am a woman. I thought the Oedipus or Electra complex was the excessive and obssesive attachment. Maybe I am wrong.

I am definitely closer to my mom. My dad and I are a lot alike, and this causes us to butt heads!

I am much closer to my mom. My dad only had a use for boys when I was growing up. He would have paid for my brother to go to college (and he didn't go) and all of us girls went (4) and he wouldn't pay anything for us to go.
