CONTEST DETAILS
To enter the BOCA Balanced Living Challenge, post a short entry up to 250 words, describing the change you’d like to make in your life and how BOCA can help you achieve balance.
BOCA will select the top 10 finalists that offer an inspiring solution to achieve a healthy balance. Starting Monday, March 9, Gather group members are invited to vote for their favorite entry to win their Balanced Living dream.
One grand prize winner will receive $5,000 to put their balanced living plan in action. The top nine runners-up will receive a BOCA Balanced Living gift basket.
Check back on Monday, March 9 to vote for your favorite challenge entry. The Grand Prize winner, selected by you, will be announced on Monday, March 23.

Share your entry by following these quick steps:
- Click "Share" on the left of your My Gather page
- Select "Share a Post"
- To share a post, you may type directly into the body of the submission page or copy and paste in your entry, if you have written it elsewhere.
- In the "Tags" field, you must insert the tag "balancedliving" (no space) separated from any other tags by a comma
- Under "Who can view my article," you must select "Everyone" and the "BOCA Balanced Living" group
- Click "Submit"

This tells me that in the end, it's another Gather popularity contest, and sorry, I just won't even play there. It doesn't really matter who chooses the finalists if the friends of friends of friends will be voting for their *ahem* friend. Nice idea though.

Votes are not limited to gather members, articles/posts can be bookmarked and if it is a good article/post people from DIgg/facebook/my space etc can also vote so it is not truly about how popular you may be here at gather. After all gather makes money from its sponsers by the views and when you get more people to view an article/post they make more money and we get more points. And any member can bookmark any article, so if you like one of the 10 winners help them win by bookmarking there article/post.
And as I said above, 9 winners will get $150 worth of stuff before any votingtakes place. ( This had not been done in most contests here at gather and is an awesome addition)
I would love to see the vote button that was used in the First Tracks contest be used in these type of contests.
I did say " how popular you may be here at gather" as some were posting that it is how popularyou are here at gather.
I recently did a test and bookmarked one of mine and another members articles on some sites were I have a network and it really did increase the views.
I do think gather holds these type of contests because there revenue is around views, ( not that I like it that way, but that is how it is weather we like it or not)
I think this is there reasoning; if the winner can generate views/votes the more money gather makes. And anyone who has a following on one of the bookmarksites can also promote an article that they like, even if they are not friends with that persons article. so gather gets more hits and possibly more members so they view these type of contests as viable.
Gather, is it not reasonable to invite all members to participate. I am going to participate in this.
By the way people, the rules are not saying that you must write an article of 250 words, but is stating your article is limited to no more than 250 words, which is what? About 2 and 1/2 pages tops, I think. That is not very much, I would think. At any rate, you have plenty of time to do this -- more than a month.
I extend my best wishes to every participant, and yes Peter, despite my entering the contest, I shall not renege on my word: I shall still vote for YOU!
