I received an email today in my gather mail chewing me out for writing an article about losing 5.4lbs last week. He titled the message "what's the big deal" and went on to say that he didn't think I should be celebrating my weight loss...that's it's more important to celebrate people who choose to not overeat, that losing weight isn't a big deal. I say that email was written by someone who obviously doesn't understand being overweight. Instead of writing an article bashing him and his weird sense of why he felt compelled to write me to be an annoying jerk, i'd write about why I choose to talk about losing weight...not that I have anything to explain to him mind you...I chose to not even respond to him....just deleted the email and moved on.
I choose to discuss it for the support I get...I go to weight watchers, and part of why the program works for me is the support..but support away from the meetings is also important....I choose to talk about it in hopes I may inspire someone else to try and get healthy...if I can inspire just one person that would make me an even happier person. I know when I read the articles posted here from others also working on getting healthy it helps to keep me motivated....when I see someone at one of my meetings hit their goal weight, knowing they started off about the same weight I did, well that inspires me...so if I can help anyone by writing about what I go through, then I plan too, even if some strange faceless man on the internet has an issue with it!! I coose to discuss it because I get great advice and ideas from people that I may not have gotten if I just kept silent. I choose to discuss it because i've gotten some really great recipies that help keep me on track. I choose to discuss it because it helps keep me on track with my goals.......I choose to discuss it because plainly said, I want too....and I plan to keep doing it....

The person who gave you a difficult time about sharing your victory is one of many who just do not understand how much we who are overweight struggle. For someone who does have an issue with food, it seems so easy. But we know differently. I also know that everybody struggles with SOMETHING. So the person who wrote that to you also struggles with something as well. I can almost guarantee...
I'm that way to Kara, I really need to start doing that again.
