I've had some great launch parties for my novels, but never one that 23 million people will see! What do I wear? What if I have a bad hair day? What if I can't think of anything to say - ha!
So, here's the deal. The Summer Blowout kick-off event will take place at Borders Boston Downtown Crossing on Tuesday, June 3 at 6 PM. It's free and open to the public. It will be filmed and broadcast to 23 million people via the Borders Shortlist, and there will be audience shots, so I'm not the only one with a chance for fifteen minutes of fame here! Clips will be featured here on Gather, and I'll also post lots of photos on my blog over at http://clairecook.com/.
The event will be hosted by Mel Robbins, of "Advice for Living" fame. First she'll interview me, then an editor from More Magazine and some More readers will join me on the stage for a group discussion. Then we'll all hang out and I'll sign books. Though we'll certainly discuss writing and the creative process, this one won't technically be a writing workshop. However, writing workshop handouts will be available for aspiring writers.
My Boston event will be followed by three other Voice/More/Borders/Gather writing workshops in other locations. These will begin with a 30 minute workshop, followed by a Q&A lead by a More Magazine contributor, and then we'll all chat and I'll sign books.
And, of course, after each event, the conversation will continue right here at Gather!
Please come join me! And thank you so much for spreading the word to anyone and everyone who might be interested. I appreciate your support so much!

Thanks! Looking forward to meeting you in person!
I think it will be lots of fun! Make sure you say hi to me!
Great! I know we'll have such a fun time!
Thanks so much! It was such a pleasure meeting you last night, and you did more than attend -- you were one of the three More readers on stage with me! You did an amazing job up there, Kari. I loved hearing you talk about your middle school students -- how lucky they are to have you! And your enthusiasm for life is so inspiring. And I was beyond touched that you had three pages of notes about Summer Blowout -- even if Mel wouldn't let you talk about the book! Maybe you can use them to write a review here at Gather -- or send them to me and I'll put them up on my website. Anyway, I'm honored to have met you and I hope our paths cross down the road. I hope you'll grab some friends (maybe my old friend Dayle!) and bring them to one of my other Boston area events -- they're up on my website at www.clairecook.com.
I'm so glad you had a good time! I did, too! And thanks for your kind words about Summer Blowout! I'll look forward to your review. You always do such a fabulous job.
