Often aspiring writers tell me that a certain book they're reading made everything click, and suddenly they know where they're going with their own book. Maybe it's a book about writing, or maybe it's a book that somehow feels connected to the one they want to write. Has this ever happened to you? Do tell.

That was great. I cant wait to read this book.
It happens to me all the time, too. Sometimes a completely unrelated book I'm reading will give me just what I need for what I'm writing!
I love Bird by Bird, too. I've read it a zillion times, and it never fails to make me feel less neurotic. I also love Carolyn See's Making a Literary Life: Advice for Writers and Other Dreamers, just in case you haven't read it.
Thanks so much for reading Life's a Beach and Must Love Dogs. It's still such a thrill for me to hear that readers enjoy my novels!
