Are you troubled by your past—mistakes made, sins committed, bad decisions acted upon? Most of us (if we are human) have taken short cuts to happiness or grabbed at something we shouldn't have simply to survive. I call these experiences counterfeit journeys. Then there are the accidents that just happened- an unplanned pregnancy, a sudden shortfall, an injury. These accidental journeys take some doing to solve or adjust to. But they eventually become part of our unique tapestries. My mentor, Joan Erikson helped me see that through adversity and solving life conflicts we develop certain strengths—such things as hope, will, competence, passion, and purpose. None of us can control the way life passes—we can only adapt. Look back on your life with compassion and praise the wisdom that came from the good and bad eventualities.

The course one is made to chart through AA is amazing...better than the hours spent on a psychiatrists couch.
