Autumn Color is Spreading in Michigan - Photo essay

Here is an update on the progress of autumn color in Michigan. We've got a couple of weeks to go before peak color, but each day, more leaves are sporting their autumn wardrobes.

This is the boat launch, one of my favorite photo spots:

Color is spreading along the west shore:

We've got some big, fluffy clouds today!  See any hidden objects?  Use your imagination:

When autumn comes around, it's back to school time.  Time to hit the books, kids.  By next month, there will be leaves to rake, and to iron with wax or use for crafts and displays.

Of course, some of God's creatures don't have much work to do. For those lucky ones, it's a great day to sleep in the sun:

We're neck and neck in the color department. And so are our cats in the sleeper. Apricot's out of it on the couch.

I think the beautiful autumn colors are a consolation for having to give up summer's sunny days.
I see Autumn sneaking into your pictures! They are beautiful. The cloud shots you got are amazing. I could not tell if you'd posted this to Human Katherine's group, Skyward, but you should. I'm sure the member's in that group would appreciate seeing these.

He belongs to our neighbor, but he hangs out here, eating and sleeping like part of the family. He is quite a character.

Jennifer, it never got very hot here. I don't think we had more than three days with temps over 90.

I grew up in Royal Oak and we moved north to this lake when we retired. This city kid is now a nature lover.

What a lovely and nourishing spot to spend your retirement at! I'm also a nature lover, but didn't learn about nature until I was in my 50s and living in a Chicago suburb. I currently live in a retirement community and my unit overlooks a small lake and the community property abuts a county river trail. Tomorrow I go on a weekly nature hike with a class from the local community college.

From time to time, I write about nature on Gather.

I think he does that at night. Although he belongs to our neighbor, he has left us little dead rodent "gifts" to find in the mornings.

We're just a little bit north of you, Aunt Shanny. We went down to Oakland county and I noticed that there isn't much color change south of Saginaw.

I had planned to visit the Northeast for the fall season but our oldest son needed to use my travel bus to stay in while building a new house, so we will not make it this year. Maybe next. I love it there this time of year.
