My daughter, Kristi, got her wedding photos back and she is less than happy!
The good thing is there are several amateur photographers in the family and a couple that have photoshop skills. Hopefully, we can put together a collection of shots that she will be happy with.
And, since she has the rights to all the so'called professional photos we can fix some of those, too.
Here is the before and after of one that I started messing around with in PhotoShop.

Professional's idea of a good shot

Dad's PhotoShop version of the same shot.
What do you think? Is there any difference between the two?

I'm thinking Dad should have been the professional photographer! I think Dad's version is so much better! Good job!
I still need to tweak the color. But, I think she'll like it!
Nicely done!
good job, glad you got rid of the wires
Yeah. Can you believe a "Professional" wouldn't notice that the wires were there?
oh yeah, I like second shot better.
It's definitely an improvement!
Her hair does look a little funky where you took out the top wire, so you might want to mess with that area a tiny bit more. The rest looks amazing, though, and much, much, much better than the original.
Yeah, I know what ya mean, Jessi.
This was just a couple minutes with a low resolution copy of the pic to show her that all was not lost!
I'm sure she'll love them in comparison.
Is she going to complain to the "professional"? She deserves to get at least some of her money back if she's not happy.
She is not complaining because the "professional" is the groom's uncle and that was his wedding present to them!
I'd love to see some more of the befores/afters if you do any more, too.
I'll definitely post more as I do them.
I might also post some comparisons between the Professional's shot and similar ones taken by the amateurs.
That'd be great!
I love photo editing-- though i don't use photoshop. Great job. It's always a chore to get rid of the repeating patterns left from cloning.
It sure looks better though. What was the photographer thinking with the fence? weird.
My guess is that he WASN'T thinking, Carol.
Also he has her crouching in the weeds there-- as if she were hunting. Very little of the gown is visible. I think the fellow (or gal) does not have much of a clue (or an eye) for composition. Good thing she's got good photographers & photo editors in the family! ;)
Definitely like the after version of that better, the road leading away right behind her is perfect-- something you loose in the other shot.
Thanks, Sophie.
How are things in your neck of the woods?
Beautiful fix Rick (and a lovely Daughter too! And belated congratulations as well).
That "professional" should really consider picking up photoshop for dummies.
I hope with your skills she can have a wedding photo package that is perfect, it's a shame though you have to do it it after paying for it. Is she going to get any of her money back from the "pro"?
A good photographer shouldn't need PhotoShop! Or just for touch-ups, not major overhauls.
Well that is true but they should at least know how to fix basic things.
I'm with Sophie about the road behind her... I didn't even see it in the first shot!
Good thing she has YOU to help her with her photos! I sure hope when people get their wedding photos back from me they're not unhappy like she was.
I am going to feel AWFUL if she paid a lot for this photographer!!!
The guy was completely unaware of things like the wires and where his and other peoples' shadows were.
I'm sure, from what I've seen of your photography, you do just fine!
We should have called you! The wedding was just outside of Sublimity!
Yeah you should have! That would have been really fun & on top of it, I would have been able to meet you in person.
I can't wait to see more of the Before & After shots...
Great work, Rick!
Wow! I can't believe a pro photographer took that shot! Good thing she has you! good job!
Yeah. Scary, isn't it?
Great save Rick! I'm sorry to hear that your daughter wasn't happy with her photos, but I hope her day went well.
It was a beautiful day and a good time was had by all!
I think you saved your daughter's wedding photos!
There are actually half a dozen of us working on putting together a collection of great photos.
Let's see ,any difference you say ?? About like the difference 'tween daylight and dark ! It's hard to believe anyone ( much less a pro ) thought her lovely face should be behind strands of wire !!
Yours is much better Dad.
I think he was probably using the wire to frame her face....... Horrible composition for a bride (actually anyone).... I can't imagine why he would think that would look nice. I'm glad you are able to fix them!
That is exactly why we passed out disposable cameras at our wedding
She had disposible's as well! Unfortunatly, some teen age girls got a hold of those and mostly took pictures of themselves!
SO much better without the wires!!
Great job, Rick!!
I'm really surprised that the photographer considered that first shot to be good. The two wires seem to come out of nowhere. Yes, they frame her face, but they looked strange and floating in air.
Hmmm... Professional, eh? I don't think so. I can't believe he ignored those wires, and even his own shadow in the shot as you mentioned. You and the others doing the makeover should present him with the finished product and charge him for your services!
Poor thing. I'm glad she had dad around to fix her pictures.
oh boy....not the smartest bulb in the box was he?! I had a freind who had the same problem.....the photo's in the church had Jesus' hands coming out of their heads!
nice job Rick.
You're doing great with the photo shop Rick.
Great job. It's a whole lot better.
i think you'll make your daughter a wonderful album!!!! :)
Good job.
I have to agree the wires were distracting. At my cousin's wedding, the "pros" kept taking the exact same shot as my boyfriend (he had his D70). They would literally follow him around and either jump in front of him to take the shot or take it right after him. They said they liked his pictures better than the duo they hired.
You know what they say.. Father knows best!
Do you want to be my official spokesperson, Phyllis?
You'd have to convince all the kids of that, though...
Looks better already! I will get you the CD of the rest real soon!
I definitely like the fix you did much, much better!
Hi Rick. I’m doing a mass hello to everyone on my friends list.
“Hello”, my name is Lee P. You are my friend and I’m just stopping by to say hello. I hope that today will be your best day yet and that all your tomorrows will be filled with joy and happiness.
