I haven't taken or posted many photos recently because our area of northern Michigan has been in that "ugly duckling" stage between Winter and Spring. Now, however, we're starting to see sprouts, plants, leaves, buds and bugs!

This area will be filled with hostas soon.

Rhododendrons and hostas. The spinning flamingos are supposed to scare off moles. It doesn't work.

Believing that spring will come and plants will grow requires hope and faith.

These hostas get more sun. Think they, too, will spread and fill in.

The landscape is greening up, leaves are popping out and growing. Summer will be here soon. The windmill is also supposed to drive away moles. It doesn't work either.
Spring must be coming. Dandelions are sprouting and swarms of gnats are whirling around. Why is it that with all this open space, gnats always fly up people's noses? Guess it's one of life's little mysteries.

Maybe it's a little like having a whole parking lot for your car but you choose to pull into Arby's drive thru instead? (yeah, it's a yuck)

Beautiful pictures. I love it when spring time comes and everything turns from brown to green. It so refreshing after a long winter. Thanks for sharing some of your spring.

Jan, love your photo essay. It looks like a great garden.
watching the earth turn green again is such a feel good thing.........pif
It does look like spring. It's been alternating between winter and maybe just a little spring here. I'm STILL waiting for the warmer weather.

Beautiful... makes me like spring... just a little bit! Haha. pif
very beautiful... happy Spring and Summer...
Wonderful, Michigan sure looks like a beautiful state to live in and this is probably the closest I'll get - we planted I think three hostas here, a couple or so years back (Connecticut), and they're spreading like crazy.
About the gnats, you're right! WHY is that? Fatal attraction of the nost syndrome? LOL
Off to look at your photos up close.
Marilyn
Ummm, the gnats, not nost, that was supposed to be nose. Didn't feel like deleting and starting all over again. Oops.
great photos
Love your yard and beautiful view of the lake. Some of my hostas get burned out in the summer from too much sun. But they do cut down on some weeds, lol. We must have perfect soil here on Long Island to grow weeds. I have to pull them everyday and they get big in one day. Aren't we lucky?
Nice shots and photo essay, PIF
Very nice essay!!
