The Groundhog was right: More Snow and Cold! Photoessay

After last week's heat wave, we had begun to think the groundhog was wrong.  Temperatures here in northern Michigan soared to a record-breaking 50 degrees!  Most of the accumulate snow melted away and the air smelled like spring.  Winter always gets the last laugh, however.... 

Whiteout!

The dock looks lonely, waiting for the boats to return.

Nobody playing outside today.

It's a beautiful, snowy day in the neighborhood.

 

Time to get out the snowblower again.

Temps were in the 20's - 30's, but the wind chill made it feel much colder.

It's hard to believe, but summer will come and we will cook out, play on the beach and enjoy the sunshine.  It takes faith to believe that on a day like today...!

We got some snow here earlier today, but most of it is gone now. Was pretty much a light dusting, nothing on the roads.

The snow plow just went by for the second time. Perhaps we have more snow then I'd thought. C'mon, summer!

I think I have had as much as I can handle of Jack Frost right now, and am seriously looking forward to warmer weather. We are currently heating our home with space heaters as the ice storm here in Ky basically fried our AC/Heater unit, and the claims check will take upwards of 3 weeks to arrive before we can get another one installed. I cringe at the though of opening my electric bill, for the time period reflecting our usage of the space heaters. At least the next one should reflect the time we were without power. Come on spring! Were cold here brrrr! LOL!

I would like to say I feel your pain but cannot. I know this for certain that hot weather is on it's way in the south and when it comes so will the gnats. When it does you can be very thankful you live in the cold north!

We have more snow coming, according to the TV weather guessers. Our trip down to Bay City had to be postponed and it's a good thing. There was a 15 car accident on the freeway down there. Guess we'll turn up the heat and hunker down for a few days.

When it first comes you welcome it. Safe at home, (IF your power stays on) All warm and looking out the windows. Reading a book or just hanging out on Gather. But it gets old fast. You tire of being in, wearing so many darn clothes, and drinking too much coffee, tea, and hot choclolate.

I am sick of the cold here in Missouri. I will be glad when it is gone..I have been laying out a garden in my mind just to not be so crabby while waiting for it. I love your pictures, but will be glad when that scene is just a memory. Glad you were not on that highway> Ellen B

Now Jan, Living in Michigan, especially where you are, you know it ain't over yet. Heck, I've worked in snow flurries in May. But that's not going to happen this year, is it? It's going to start warming up soon and just gradually keep getting warmer.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;-)
