This latest Gather Upgrade has had me betwixt and between sixes and sevens the last several days. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to upload a photo/essay or individual images. Seemed like I was "Pissing the Night Away" on Gather. But like always, I finally figured the whole damn thing out so join me and Sage in my celebration. Got to love this video....for those of you who grew up in the 50's, sweet memories of our youth!
I do love this. Do you remember the kids' parties of a few years ago at the various play spaces? Discovery Zone, Kids n Space -this was Waltham, only. We went to many such places for parties - others and our own kids - or just to go to DZ for something to do.
I always wanted to do this. I also wanted to slide down a water slide. alas I'm afraid I'd get stuck. As for the new site, posting photos was really slick. Editing was another matter.
You need to visit those old movies. When I was young, in the summer, they had these movies on a 2 o'clock matinee on TV. I was a really movie buff then.
oh, and the video! even though i didn't grow up in the 50s, these are still the films and actors of my youth (thanks to my grandfather). and thanks to you for pointing me to it. any morning with cary and katherine is a good morning!
Love these photos, children having fun makes me smile and wish I were a kid again. These bouncy things are all the rage now and kids to love them. Sage is adorable.
My daughter LOVES these moonwalk things. I've even considered getting one for the yard, with the logic that it may be safer than those trampolines...but then I thought about what I might do with it once it is no longer an interest...it's not that easy to throw out! What if it got a hole in it? Needless to say, we don't have a moonwalk or a trampoline! Very fun picture, Bob, they convey the wonderful experience of living in the moment....something we all can learn from children.
Sage is precious, those bouncy things really help get the wiggles out. You should think about setting one of those things right outside you classroom. Might be just the right thing for the little ones with ants in their pants. I also enjoyled the video link, thanks.
I don't have a clue whether it was gather glitches in the beginning or whether it had to do with this brain NOT being able to figure things out but when I tried to "upload" pictures it would default to a blank page. Now things are working.
Oh Roy, don't you know how my mind works? I find connections between the oddest ideas....this all made sense to me. I couldn't figure out the new Gather update....I stuck with it trying everything I could think of....then ta-dah, I got it....and with elation I started bouncing around, at least in my mind. As for "Pissing the Night Away", Will and I would sing that song together about life not gettin' you down. Googled the song and though I found the real video, I chanced on this one....and I just started laughing. Seemed to fit perfectly with the mood I was in.
How did you DO it? My laptop refuses to install the java thing Gather is dishing up for me. It used to be simpler, why do they want us to have Java on our machines now?

Bob, I struggled with the incomprehensible update and after two hours, managed to get a few images up in an article. The confounding part is, my page says, Minakshi updated two images, Minakshi posted two images, one image...?? What's happening here? Now there are images within the article and separately as well.
OK, I finally figured out you had the Youtube thing AND the lovely shots of Sage, bouncing , which are charming. Congratulations on your success - I haven't yet even tried! But what I didn't know about that song was the title! Thanks for enlightening me! Love that song!
I know the connections in my mind are absolutely weird...but the funny thing is the fact yours must be just as weird if you understood where I was going.
Guess you just didn't watch the 2 o'clock matinees every weekday in the summer. Lots of drinkin' (that's Hollywood for ya') and knock out scenes. Some of the love scenes were just so delicious...and of course the maidens, except for Scarlett, were pure.
Another thoroughly enjoyable photo-essay, Bob. They should have fun facilities like this just for adults - with children standing outside watching, taking photos and shouting at us to be careful. I must ask you to walk me through posting individual photos - every Gather 'upgrade' seems to make things more difficult.
The video was also a hoot: drunkenness, violence, people in the horizontal legless position everywhere - it should be shown at every AA meeting! It will probably be shown in North Korea as a salutatory lesson in the evils of decadent capitalism.
You and Jan can "bounce" when you come to Boston....but bouncing is out for my "bionic titanium knee"....I just might be like that elephant Miss Mary Mack paid 50 cents to jump the fence. You know what happened to that elephant, don'tcha?
You know Pat, everytime I think I have Gather figured out, they go and change things. I must say this latest upgrade is quite wonderful once you figure it out.
