I took a walk around downtown Sanford today.I went to one of my favorite stores.     

I love antiques I could browse all day long.

 

I then stopped at Volta a vintage clothing store.

  It began to rain I took out my umberlla,and walked down th street. I passed by the local art gallery. I ran for cover. I decided to stop by the First Street Lounge for a cocktail. After the rain slowed I walked down to thelakefront park at Lake Monore. I drove home to a hot cup of tea and my friends on Gather,

Nice! We used to take the Greyhound into Sanford when we visited my mother-in-law. The Sandford Zoo is a sentimental favorite. Nice little town.

Hey, cool, Donna! I have driven thru sanford many times, admired the old stately buildings, yet never stopped...will have to next time, as that vintage store looked very interesting! :)

The building with the arches could of possible have been a railroad depot. Sanford in its day was known as the hub for transportaion.

Since you mentioned that you are new to photo essays, do you know how to make your picutres big in your article? If you click the picture from the publishing page, it will open onto a new page, grab & drag it into your article - repeat for each one.

I lived in Sanford from 1971-1974 or thereabouts. My mother-in-law is buried there and we visited with my son's family a couple of years ago. "Thanks for the memories."

Donald, Sanford has changed a bit since you lived here. They have revitalized downtown and built a beautiful Park on Lake Monore. Check back I will attempt more pics.

Donna, that is a wonderful photo essay, you did a great job. I think I was in Sanford when I was in boot camp in Orlando, I know we went sight seeing when we had our weekend off (before going downtown and getting drunk).

Hahaaa Patricia should I go downtown Orlando and take some pics? You must have been in the Navy? We use to have a big navy base here. The Navy people helped the economy especialy when they visited the gentlemans clubs twice a month on payday.haha Do you remember where you use to go downtown?

We used to take our dog to the dog park there until they built one in Apopka last year. We don't get over there much anymore.

Sanford will be having a big fireworks dispaly on the lakefront. They put on a good show, lots of ohhhs and ahhhs say so.

Donna, nice work. We tend to take small towns, and small corners of big cities for granted. I have learned over the years to stop, look around and savor them. Your photo/essay is a terrific start. Keep at it.
