THEN AND NOW

Do I remember, of course,
What is to forget
Our first attempts at bad sex,
In the rear seat of my car.
The song that played in time,
To our clumsy embrace.
Your jewelry clattering to the floor,
The lights coming on in your house.
And your father mad, screaming,
I have no regret..
I loved you then,
I love you now.
LET IT ALL HANG OUT

"It's better than sex."
I remember perplexed
A quote I first heard in a bar.
Not with your spouse
And not in a house.
Tis better when done from afar
No jewelry, no rings
No bright shiny things.
Or fireflies caught in a jar.
You tango to song
All naked and strong
Then embrace whoever you are.
Night chills the floor
As you sway by the shore
Exposed by the lights of your car.
Dance 'til the sun sets
Without any regret
Exposed and under a star.

I think I need a break.
He waits and waits, finally getting his turn. He asks: "Great Sage, what is the meaning of life?"
The sage looks off into the distance. "Life is a bowl of cherries."
The young man is livid. "I gave up everything and suffered greatly for you to tell me Life is a bowl of cherries!?!"
The sage shrugs. "OK. Life is not a bowl of cherries."
Actually David, I like these.
It puts part of a life in context for me.
"You only go around once so grab for all the gusto you can get."
Or by Thoreau, "When it comes time to die, let's not regret that we have never lived."
Finally, "Life is short eat desert first.' Probably where the cherries came in.
It's a whole new world.
Not quite ready, though certainly climbing.
When it comes time to die, let's not regret that we have never lived. true.
of no regrets for jewelry, car and house
But Yes, a hot embrace on the cold floor
missed some raw sex
