Isn't it funny how on some of them, when it is a close-up, it actually looks like leather? Anyone else see that? Beautiful though.

The first photo looks like velvet to me Ginny and I think I see what you're saying in the third shot, because of the veins in the petals I guess.

Thanks. I have never been able to grow roses they always die. I even bought 2 beautiful Rosa Banks vines that are susposed to be indestructale and I killed one, the other is still alive but has not bloomed for 2 years. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Oh the roses in these photos were taken from different bouquets that John has gotten for me in the past.

"A rose by any name would smell as sweet." A photgraph taken of a rose somebody else grew is still a work of art. You are lucky to have someone bring you flowers.

Such beautiful roses, nice shots. Supposedly (I think) roses need good drainage to do well, and annual pruning to keep getting nice blossoms. The one I think is most hardy myself around here anyway, is a very nice red rose called Mr. Lincoln. We have a nice one that gets gorgeous flowers for about ten years now.

But you can grow so many other things there! I didn't grow these, but I wish I could say I did. I never have any luck with rose bushes.

Wow! Beautiful! My hubby grows roses, as did his father and grandfather. All summer long, I have fresh-cut flowers in my house. My favorite is the Angel Face.
