Early Morning Glory

My family and I had a rough time getting out of bed this morning, so we missed the sunrise but fortunately we did not miss all of the beauty.. When we got to the beach right around 7 a.m., the beach was already busy with other early risers, and a storm was brewing in the distance.

There were a bit of a chop on the ocean, so I did not go swimming, since we were there before the life guards. My oldest son wanted to try out his new skim board for the first time, and he asked me to demonstrate. I made a few attempts, and my husband took quite a few non-flattering photos that I will not share, but let me just tell you that balancing on a moving skimboard while the waves are crashing in certainly takes some skill. The kids had a few laughs at my expense, and fortunately I was able to laugh off my numerous poor landings as well.

My husband did go in the water with the boys once the lifeguards got on duty, and since there were clouds moving in it was a very pleasant morning in South Florida. Although it is the last weekend of the summer, it almost feels like it is only the beginning down here in the South.
