My husband and two of his best buddies went to British Colombia and fished in a place called Winter Harbor at the top of Victoria Island on the Pacific coast.

Winter Harbor is a "safe harbour" about 40 minutes from the lighthouse on the Pacific Ocean by water.

Our men had one perfect day with calm waters and sunny skies. The rest of the fishing days were rainy and high seas. The last day, my husband said he felt like a cork bobbing in the ocean.

They caught their limit every day. Salmon, halibut and cod.

Where they fished it is the closest inhabited area in North America to Japan and China.

Inhabited is a stretch. According to a book I read, the area has 20 permenent year-round residents. The fisherman said that number is down to nine now. In the summer there is a lot of tourists taking advantage of the water, the fishing, camping and hiking in the area.

They saw bears, eagles, otters, and herons.

I wasn't there to take the photos but the boys took them and said to go ahead and post them so I will. The camera is a Canon PowerShot SD 750.

This first photo essay will show you the scenery and our guys at rest.

You can tell by the smiles on their faces, they had a great time.

The bears and otters were too fast to photograph.
Stay tuned for Part Two - the real fishing photos.
