The Rose - A Treasured Vacation Memory

We spent the morning at our favorite beach - Calusa Beach at Bahia Honda a little island about 35 miles from Key West, and on this paradise beach my sons found quite a treasure. The third photo is my absolute favorite of our entire vacation. I had to be quick about getting some photos though, as it did not take long for the beautiful rose to end up in the water.

Thank you everyone, they sure was thrilled about the rose....and so was I:) My theory is that there was a wedding shoot there the day before, as I could certainly see why someone would like to have their photos taken there.

It looked pretty fresh though. We got there at 8:15 a.m., and the park opened at 8 a.m.

Beautiful, j r! it got me thinking - if it was a wedding proposal, she would've taken it home and pressed it in a book, yes? So my guess is it was left to honor someone who had passed away....hummm.

Katrina, you are right about that. It was just placed so randomly, almost as if it had been discarded off or fallen down. There were no other signs of anything. Surely a mystery, but a beautiful one.

I imagine the rose came from "a scattering" at sea. This Sunday we are going to scatter Mom's ashes and I imagine I will be scattering a rose bouquet because that was Mom's favorite flower.
