Evening Walk On The Beach - repost for summerpics

Here are more photos I took on our walk on the beach last night.  After taking photos of Reflections in the Sand, we went for a nice long walk and I took some more photos of what we saw.  There is always something interesting to see and last night was no exception.  There were a few professional photographers taking photos.  I couldn't tell what they were photographing for, one was a group of young people all dressed in white shirts and tan pants, posing along the dock pilings.  Another photographer had a portable light disk and they were photographing two young girls dressed with yellow tops and white pants.  I thought perhaps these were photos to be used in vacation brochures or ads.  I didn't take photos of these groups, I'm a little too self conscious to be taking pictures of people taking pictures if you know what I mean.  Besides, there are too many other things to catch on film, so I went and found my own subjects.

Swash - the water that washes up on shore after an incoming wave has broken. This action will cause sand and other light particles to be transported up the beach. The direction of the swash varies with the prevailing wind, whereas the backwash is always perpendicular to the coastline.

This is along the dunes at Myrtle Beach State Park.  I had never heard of a swash and found it very interesting.  I copied the definition from Wikipedia.  There was a sign there explaining that this was for flood protection on the beach and that the water should not be used for swimming!

Sea oats.  It was windy so DH held them for me.  I think this made a pretty scene with the ocean in the background.

At the state park there is a store that sells food and novelties that leads out to the fishing pier and some picnic tables and benches.  The tables all have these pretty umbrellas on them.

I was hoping to find some shells along the beach but this cute dog and his master was a nice sight.  It's a Bull Mastiff and the owner said she was about three years old.  It looked like she had a litter recently too.

She loved the ocean.

I've been waiting to get some photos of these pretty yellow, lantern shaped flowers that grow in the dunes.  As DH went to get the car and drive down to where I was and pick me up to go home I snapped a few photos.  If anyone knows the proper name of these, please share.

These are a little more orange than yellow, but most are yellow.

One more for good measure. 

Some pretty yellow flowers grow in the dunes also.  I think these are the prettiest dunes I've ever seen.

I think the red flowers get faded a little from the bright, hot sun.  They are more orange and red in the spring and fall.  Still lovely to see.

I see the car coming and hurry to get one more shot of these pretty yellow flowers as a parting shot.
