Quad Ride For Daughter's 20th

August 1st was my daughter's 20th birthday. Marie wanted to do nothing other than go for a quad ride with the gang. Since she works weekends and graveyard shifts, she never gets the chance to go with us. Our friends Ray and Francine were kind enough to let us borrow one of their quads for the day, and Tiffany was kind enough to give up her usual spot in the group, so that Marie could join us.

Since it was way too hot to go quadding in the lower desert areas we decided to go up on the Mogollon Rim again. At least if it gets hot up here there is always a shade tree to be found. I pulled over to a spot that I thought for sure would be a great overlook into the canyon and creek below. It turned out there were too many trees in the way.

Here is Marie all decked out and ready for the day. Hey, that's my quad! Just look at those new aggressive tires! Oooh, oooh! Now I need some on the front. At least I get to use Robert's green machine for the day. Yeah, power!!! Oops, maybe a little too much!

We took Marie to the area we call the Rock Maze. She wanted to go to one of the cooler places we've been to and this is definitely one of them. Robert and Marie hiked through the tunnel and up onto the top while the rest of us took a break below.

Later in the day we wanted to head down to Chevlon Canyon Lake to eat lunch but the road was closed by the Forest Service due to a forest fire in the area. We decided to go the long way around and through Wildcat Canyon. We'll hit Chevlon Canyon next time. While everyone else was on a potty break Marie relaxed in the shade. My quad is pretty comfy.

We stopped for lunch under the shade of several tall Ponderosa Pine trees. After lunch Francine broke out little cupcakes for dessert. She even put a candle in Marie's. Happy Birthday!

On our way back to the vehicles we ran into some mutton stew. Okay fine! We ran into some really cute little sheep. (I wonder if the electricity causes changes in the sheep. I wonder if it makes their wool stand on end. Ha!)

When we got home we had an awesome shish kabob dinner and enjoyed Marie's birthday cake (which she made herself). Happy Birthday!!!
