Two ten's for you!
funny, there was just a story on npr this morning about dem bees...amazing little guys they are.
thanks Aunt Boni. cool.
thank you Mona - way cool on the font - that's me. that is, that's my hand writing (ok, printing) - i've found several ways to write/print on digital pieces. the best by far is using the interactive pen that came with my (newish) digital toy... i mean tool - the Cintiq - which is a Wacom tablet. it's almost as if you were writing on glass with a pen. and i can use any of the brushes and other "tools" in photoshop elements (6) or corel painter essentials (4) as my "writing" tool. another way i learned is my signature - (which is much smaller) i discovered this process last year. i write on paper and scan it and then turn the writing into a "brush" in Photoshop. then with one click i can add that signature any place i wish to add it and at what ever size. with the pen i can write anything any time i want to do so. so way cool that the writing feels good with the image to you. i've learned some things from WHA (World Haiku Association) out of Japan about haiga - which is one of the reasons why i now use a more visible haiku with my image - plus hand writing is often preferred with haiga in that organization - which made sense to me - a balance between image and haiku - not one dominating the other. what is new for me... is using the caps. usually i use lower case when i'm using fonts. some how tho... i think when i actually write, i like the uppercase look better (altho i know about uppercase and shouting on the net etc.). i'm still experimenting with this. this is one of the first times i've used the hand written caps. i tried actually writing - which i can do easily enough - but someone told me no one today actually reads writing well. oops. i may still play with it. . . thanks for the great comment on the font, tho, because that tells me i'm working in a good direction - way cool on that!
thank you Kat - i can see how it looks like watercolor too. it's always seemed funny to me to have "paint" term names for different digital effects and filters and processes. i can understand why that was done - other wise you have to use all new words. the thing is to me sometimes what is called one thing is more like something else. this wasnt called "watercolor" - but to me it looks more like a (vivid) watercolor than what it was called. it's not quite like a filter but the effect ultimately is similar. however i then can go back in and alter areas - in a multitude of ways. which is what i do. there are a lot of tweaks and adjustments possible so it does become very individual unless you apply only one thing and leave it like that. even then applying the same filter or process twice can have slight to significantly different outcomes. - fun.
thank you Van.
Made me think of how at every house but this one - carpenter bee's were not my friends, dive bombing me from nowhere, angering me enough to slay them. Yet not one ever killed.
yes, interesting Anna Vee - i hadnt noticed the dive bombing with these either. they nest in parts of the avocado tree here in the yard. now that you've mentioned it, i've tried to take note. very little is the verdict. once i thought... may be. however that may have just been me in the path. i've come to like these creatures even if they are burrowing into the tree. cool on life, yes.
I didn't know about carpenter bees until I saw your post and the next day I saw and photographed one in my garden.
I absolutely love the card and poem and the handwriting too:) It looks like a lovely water colour, I'm partial to those.
oh! Rose. yes, you did. i've been placing both an article and a photo with the same image. and yes, you did leave a comment - on the photo. i find that there is a difference between the people who look at photos and who look at articles - sometimes they over lap. so, no, your comment did not disappear.
i too was surprised to find out they were "carpenter bees" now that i know, i can understand it. it's amazing what we begin to see once we know, yes. until we have a word for it, things can slip by us. it's one of the good sides to "naming". cool.
thanks too regarding the image. i'm always experimenting and tweaking. this one... imo... hit the spot. cool, yes.
I have a hive of bees living in a brick column of my home. They are not carpenter bees, but they are nice to see, to hear. It is nice to know that the flowers I have keep them around.
Great haiku as well!
Thanks for posting in Journey Into Poetry !
bwahahahaha - thank you Michelle - in fact the creators of the program did not call it a watercolor effect. but then, i often find that the names given tools and effects do not necessarily reflect a likeness to what the tool or effect does. it's more a reflection on the view of the namer - and when they are not necessarily involved with all the aspects of art and art materials... the sometimes stretch for a name to give to a tool or effect that they have created. ...even tho i may be familiar with the actual tool, i've started to accept that what a digital tool does, is simply that and not necessarily reflective of the name it has been given. ...
i too, like the sound of bees. bees are having a tough time right now. i dont know if we've figured out what is happening to them. anything that helps them continue - i have to say - good on that!
thanks on the haiku. i'm still learning. still evolving. and sometimes i get one that is reasonabe. i like that too.
...and you are very welcome of course. thank you for the group!
Haiku is one of my favorite forms ...
soft waves of bright pink
hum of surfer fills the air
carpenter bee arrives ...
Hope you like it!
Peace
