I looked out the window this morning and, there, all by herself, was "Mama Deer"... I suppose, what with "Baby Deer" growing up and getting his first set of antlers 'n all, Mama is experiencing "empty nest syndrome". ;o)

I cracked open the front door to get a clear shot of her and she watched me for a bit -- turning those big, ole' "mule ears" (for which her breed are commonly named) my way.

I imagine she feels pretty comfortable with me by now because she sat right down amidst the wildflowers and weeds, dampened from the recent rains, and had herself a little rest well within view of the ole singlewide...
And you can call me "crazy" (many do... ;o) ) but, look at her mouth! Doesn't it look to YOU like she's SMILING?!?
I think Mama Deer is just the sweetest thing! :o)
From the ole singlewide here in the Northern California hills above the little town of Cloverdale in Sonoma County --
'Til next time, Gather friends!
luv,
